Hi all, back in September I was hit by the EMD update just as I started a new job working in a warehouse. All of my sites were hit and I completely gave up with SEO.

I was recently reading a PDF on the EMD update and realised that my problem was due to having way too many ******** links (blog network posts) and too many links pointing to the home page.

After taking a look at my link profile for one of my sites I have realised that almost all of the lin ks (around 70%) are ******** links and therefore I need to start adding some nofollow links.

This is just part of my plan as I also need more deep links, more linking to authority sites in my niche from the internal pages, more variation of anchor text, better social presence (facebook page etc).

I was just wondering what are the best types of nofollow links and how could I go about attaining these?

I greatly appreciate any help that you could give me.

    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,

I think it's unlikely you were hit solely because of your do/nofollow ratio. 70% seems okay to me. It's probably more likely due to your anchor diversity or just quality of backlinks in general. If you PM me your URL I'll happily check it out in Majestic SEO and give you some more pointers.

I don't believe you have linked only to do follow links. The major problem why most sites were hit was due to anchor over optimization. Poor links have little to do with getting penalized, in most cases the consequences is they won't add any value.

Bro, first re-write all your content to be 1000% unique. Really, penguin is only 20% about links.
Anyway, you have good nof/dof ratio, but if you want more go for wiki & blog comments.

Wiki and Blog comment links are mostly no-follow these days.

Wiki links are the best and authority as well as quality no-follow links.
