What type of businesses usually are looking for websites? Automotive? Restaurants?

I am trying to compile a list of numbers to contact, what type do you suggest?

I have had some good success with local Restaurants. Not the big chains but the smaller guys. I build my contact list by a search and start on page 5 working back to page 1. I look at their site, see how I can improve it design wise and improve seo for existing web sites. I also put a list together for the guys that are in all the food and restaurant directories that I can't find a site for. For the restaurants that I can't find a site for I look to see if they are advertising in the phone book and flip through the local paper and if they are paying for advertising its pretty easy to nail them down on a website. Hope this helps a bit.

I find it's best to choose big-ticket businesses or ones that have a high customer lifetime value.

You'll have a hard time getting big fees from florists etc - although they can be a good place to start while you get experience and confidence to ask for the big bucks.

For example I get £500/m from a letting agent for SEO only - there's no way a mom and pop florist would go for that!

Do you have a portfolio so that members can have a look at it?

In the spirit of sharing, I'd love to show bhw members my portfolio - but in the spirit of making money to provide for my 1st child (arriving in March) by not giving away any more of my niches I'd prefer not to.

    Hope you understand. :)
