That's correct. Though,, also you can search site:CompetitionSite.com to see what kind of content they write about and work on them.

yeah but the site: operator gives you an idea of which pages are indexed. The sitemap shows you all the pages, but the site: shows which pages are actually indexed in google

For this exclusive task, I would say SEMRush. For other tasks SEMrush fails terribly. It's not a great AIO tool
In this case for a more AIO tool Aherfs, although SEMRush is one step forward for this specifically. Also with the current limits Ahrefs, unless you do a very limited research, it's completely out of market I would not recommend it.
I don't see any other good alternative, although there are plenty of tools, most give a feeble insight about this topic (you will need to own 2-3 at the same time to get a better picture)
