    Hey all,

after a longer break from the online world I want to get started again. What it in todays time the best tool (paid/non-paid) to fully understand my competitors SEO efforts in terms of:
    - see where he gets backlinks from + output this data so i can run a bot for comments etc?
    - see on which keywords he ranks + how these ranks develop
    - what his most popular pages are
    - etc...

After some research on this board I found the LinkAssistant Suite and SEOProfiler being recommended a lot. Before spending money on any of these I wanted to get your feedback on what the best tool is currently + why. Maybe there is also some non-paid stuff that does the above well already...

    Thanks upfront!!

Use Majestic or MOZ paid services but they are great for researching your competition.

LinkAssistant Suite is great. I use it, like it, allws you to enter captcha when google blocks IP and then still works and IP doesn't get blocked for a while.

If you are minted and want to pay over the odds for a simple task. Then Moz.

Link Assistant tools (SEO Spyglass etc) does a good job of onsite analysis, then Majestic or Ahrefs for the link analysis.
Onsite analysis alone = not so good
Link profile analysis alone = not so good

Majestic and Ahrefs do sort of look at the site - but not very well
SEO spyglass sort of looks at the links, but not very well

Unfortunately, when I do it, it's a multi tooled job.

Ideally you want to do both thoroughly

As Scritty said it's a multi tooled job.
    I use this tools:

    For keywords research:
    Google Keyword Planner + Semrush

    For competitors analysis:
SERP parser - to get competitors list in Google SERP
Netpeak Checker - to get competitors metrics
Ahrefs - to analyse competitors backlinks

    For on-page analysis:
    Netpeak Spider or Screaming Frog
    site-analyzer
    my checklist

    For backlinks analysis:
    Ahrefs
    Link Sphinx
    my checklist
