    Hi Guyz,

What is the best tool for quickly gaining stats for potential local clients? So for example, if an hvac company calls me up looking for SEO, what tool could I use, while on the phone with them, to quickly generate the following:

List of most valuable local keywords for them, with local monthly searches.
There current rankings for above keywords in Google and Google Places.
How much they are spending on Adwords per month?
    There current monthly traffic.
    Number of backlinks to site.
Do they have Google Places page?
    Other?

I would then use this information to make the sale. I know of many combinations of tools that I could use to achieve this, however they take time and I would like to be able to get this info quickly while I have them on the phone so that my gun is loaded.

I have used a number of tools, however most of the good ones that I have found will not track keywords locally (based on clients location) for Google results.

    Thanks in advance.

Try KeySR - the free version allows you to check local rankings from up to 5 different locations of your choice.

While on the phone? That's gonna be hard man. You're going to be focused on looking up stats rather than listening to the client, or there'll be a long awkward pause while you fetch data.

Why not take the call, get their info, and then let them know you'll put together a professional report and have it to them soon, then you'll call them back to go over it? You could send it 30 minutes later and then call them back to discuss it. Hell, we usually don't get reports out till a maximum of 24 hours later, so it's not imperative to make the sale.

I promise you, anyway, that they don't give a shit about the numbers and percentages and your expected monthly visits, etc. They just want to know how much money they can expect to make.

Regardless, for Google+ rankings, you ought to check out Places Scout. It'll fetch a lot of info that you could give to the client. Also, for ongoing reporting, you should check out Raven Tools. We just signed up with this yesterday and giving it a run, but it seems to be a great white-label solution for a reporting center that clients can actually log in to and track on their own time.

Yeah, I agree it is not enough time while on the phone. I have tried Raven Tools and it is great. However, it cannot track ranks, based on the clients location.

Raven Tools is dropping all rank tracking in January. Check out http://www.rankwatch.com/ for local tracking.

Senuke XCr seems to be the best for me, but its kind of costly..

While they don't do EVERYTHING you've listed above, Places Scout and Bright Local are the best tools for local seo. I prefer Places Scout as it's much more affordable and you get better value. BL is overpriced since they changed their pricing model.

If you're looking for a tool to help build rankings you can always try the new version of SENuke. I typically find it's easier to outsource citation building. I use a company called Citation Pros they're a good price and do a really good job. Only catch is they only do agencies that have regular work so if you have a one off project they may not take it.

I haven't tested it yet but in theory a lot of the stuff (citation building and engagement optimization) could be done by Amazon Mechanical Turk. Careful with this one because it's technically against their TOS to manipulate search results but if you're using this service to build citations or increase engagement on the listing as a "data collection" task no one would know the wiser.

If you're looking to track rankings a lot of people use Bright Local however I haven't heard a lot positive things about their rankings. I use a tool call Report Pro to track my local SEO rankings (you can google the URL). You can track for free for up to 5 locations without giving a credit card :). They will actually draw a map of where things are ranking which helps set the right expectation with the client that you might be ranking on this side of the street but not that side of the street. I've had a lot of success with this.

Full disclosure: there wasn't anything that tracked Local keyword rankings on Google and Bing Maps about 3 years ago when I first needed to start tracking local and I helped the Report Pro guys build this tool as an adviser.
