Best time to start building links to newly-created sites

I started 3 new projects after my only money site got butchered by Google's update.

All three are fresh domains, never owned before.

Two of them are already ranking for some keywords without any links, hence I've been wondering what would be the best time to start getting some link juice? And what links would you recommend and why?

You can do it in a week, in a month or even right now. Just make a link building stratefy which is totally safe.
Build only good quality links. Use drip-feed (probably several links a week is the max. for now). Later - slowly increase the weekly/monthly amount of backlinks

Start building links immediately you have good number of content. You're not going to link to empty spaces but rather to your site's content.

Don't be aggressive with your link building else you'd run into problems with Google.
