I want to use stock photos in youtube videos where the pictures will inevitably be the focal point of the videos.

I notice places like Istockphoto seem to charge 13$ per image and then somehow only 150$ for 100 images on a subscription, which is about 10x less, which doesn't make much sense.

Then places like graphicstock.com charge 100$ a year.

Any recommendations for a stock photo service to use if I plan on needing about 20 photos per video I make?

Depending on how many videos you make per day, consider a shutterstock.com. They sell only subscription plans so you will get you daily download limit based on your budget.
Other than that, dreamstime and fotolia may be worth looking into. Istock is ripoff, I wouldn't recommend them.

highly recomend shutterstock, the images library is huge, many kinds of niches and all the photos are in big size with high quality. register on plan and get the copyright file for commercial use to avoid any troubles when monetizing on youtube.

I have them bookmarked under my Unrestricted Resources but it won't hurt to double check. There are also users offering CC0 stocks in DeviantArt.

I use fotolia and I buy photos when I need them only, I hate monthly payments no matter how low those $, they add up and I am a guy that likes lowering over head costs as much as possible without affecting the business of course.

By the my general financial approach is learnt from David Ramzy, it's called Zero Sum, look it up guys its amazing...

Use shutterstock to have high quality images but you need to pay for the few. I personally try Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash.

I like using Shuttershock, they have a large variety of stock photos to choose from.

You could find some other great stock photo websites on Google for sure.
