    Hi guys, hope you're well,

I want to drive traffic to a site without using the search engines, it's really not my forte and I wondered if you have any suggestions for this (non-Google traffic)?

    I'm thinking:

Forum posts and facebook... (not very inspired, I know)

Any advice would be really appreciated?

And with that viral content make your way to StumbleUpon and Reddit. StumbleUpon is very similar to Reddit in a sense that you choose budget then target audience and then watch how effective it is. If you make it to Reddit pay attention to your servers, they may crash. Good luck!

If your site is compelling, use StumbledUpon et al. Otherwise your best bet is YouTube or facebook.

I know it's not free but if you got the money media buys could work. Be careful though, those cash burn up too fast if you have no idea what you are doing. Do some research first...

Something I do is I go to the first page of the SERPs I'm targeting and I find every single site on there and contact them and ask if there is any way I can buy banner space on their site. I'm not even looking for the SEO benefits, I'm looking to capitalize on all of those users they are getting.

The second thing I do is I plug each of those sites into Alexa, and click on the "Clickstream" tab, which shows you the top referring sites to those domains. I then make a list out of all of those sites and contact them (or do something to try to get my site in front of them).

Doing this extra little bit of research will do a great job helping you uncover gems that might not have seemed obvious at first.

Affiliate marketing is a pretty safe card - but that is obviously only an option if you are selling a decent product.

Pictures was already mentioned (depends on your target audience, but Pinterest is flooded with women and, no offense here, they seem to be always in buying mood) and for SU I would start with advertising until the traffic comes from alone...

Facebook can be a source of traffic but users from there are not looking to buy. Big web 2.0 sites can be a good source of traffic but you need to spend a lot of time on them to keep the traffic coming.
