I am considering using OpenX on one domain to manage advertising across all of my sites. The advertising zones can be pulled either using Iframes or JavaScript. Are either of these methods transparent to the search engines? I am concerned about having all of the various sites linked together through one central point. And can I cloak my referral ID's using a turnkey system like this?

I am also interested in managing links to specific keywords. For example, I would like to link all references to "Swine Flu" to a script that will allow me to track clicks and direct the traffic of all those links on the fly as opposed to relinking every instance of "Swine Flu" throughout my site. Does anyone know of a banner management system that would handle this?

I am open to suggestions and trying different systems particularly if it could hide my referral ID's and accomplish the same tasks I described above.

    Thanks in advance.

I was thinking the samething but I do believe it will be basically a footprint same as if you used adsense or such. If you own the domains then my recommendation would be not to use the zones and add code to php header and then SE should not be able to read it.

You could also cloak your pages so SE never get to see the version with your ads. Truthfully adding code to your php header is probably best bet.

    Forgive my Newbieness,
I am not sure what you mean by adding code to the php header? do you mean using static ads as oposed to trying to manage the content dynamically? OpenX does have a way of invoking the zones using PHP, but it only works locally. I would imagine there should be a way to preparse the zone code, then the only footprint bottlneck would be the hosted location of the banner image.
