    Hello BHW'lers,

I feel like I got (and want) to write a small introduction so my question won't look retarded.

I'm Philipp, 19 years old, from Berlin, Germany. One of my hobbies is making money in the internet and my aim for the long-term is to find the right IM strategie(s) to get rich in a legal (or at least secure) way.
For the past 12 months I have been making decent money by my 99%ly self-working bot system for a game which (the bot system, not the game) I have developed over some months. The product is some kind of play money that I sell to many gamers on a small website I'm running. The result are about 500? per month for 30 min of work per day. Unfortunately my business is not legal (copyright) so I can't pay taxes to the earnings and/or add them to my official income - Unless I go indirect ways (like online-poker or selfmade pseudo-businesses) which make the whole thing even more illegal.

To sum up, I want to quit and switch to some alternative soon. It was a nice experience in making money in the internet but that gaming business got no perspective but prison.
I just can't define the alternative yet as I still have much to read about internet marketing.

Let's forget all that whole internet and money for a moment. Aside from that stuff, I am 100% determined to migrate to a country with sunny, warm climate and English official language soon. Now to make it short: In my choice of countries to be considered I also want to be aware of possible benefits or handicaps in terms of internet marketing. I know there are many different kinds of internet marketing strategies and monetizing methods. Still, there must be some similarities (like payment methods or affiliate partners that are limited to specific regions or good/bad taxes or whatever). If you can only speak for your niche, just answer for important local factors for your niche, that would also help a lot to get an imagination of the whole.

    Thanks.

Philipp from cold, rainy Germany with close minded people.

    Dear Philipp,

Your feeling of disrespect for your fellow countrymen is alarming. It shows you are not with the right set of people.
If you think Germans are narrow-minded, you need to reach out to other people as they will not be like that.

Anyways, if you want to migrate, avoid Asia at all costs, especially India. A lot of important players in the IM industry do not trust them (such as Paypal) ('important player').
My advice would be to move to the US where people are more oriented towards entrepreneurship and applaud 'chasing the American dream' which is the opposite of the European white collar society. However, poker and gambling in general is an online taboo in the US, so in the rare case you want to chase that road, stick to lovely Germany.

By the way: Try building authority sites in your native language, German. Germany is a rich country with plenty of inhabitants so it is one of the best markets to adress in IM imho.

Good luck and kind regards from Belgium!

If I was you, and could freely choose such a country I'd go for Australia. The weather is great, it's and English speaking country and there's a lot of money to be made. I have clients of mine from Australia who charge their clients, what I think are outrageous prices for simple IM services, but in reality it's just the standard rate over there.

Regarding your gaming bot experience, at least take in consideration that you gained knowledge of programming which you can later on advance into a full time career (In Australia :p)

Since most countries with beautiful climates also do not have international extradition policies you are thinking in the right direction.
I am not saying keep down an illegal road but why not play the game a little longer and invest in something legit?

Hey Greeen. Berlin ist doch super fuer internet business. Cheap rents, good bandwidth, lots of people around that do not get up at 8am, so you won't stick out.
Also, selling a poker bot should not be illegal per se. You might be doing a trademark infringement, it has nothing to do with copyright. That is a civil court matter so not illegal.

As for locations, all of Europe is pretty close minded actually. My suggestion is not to worry too much about the location, build a nation of one haha.
If you don't agree, consider South Africa, but you will have a hard time getting an extended visa.

    Viel glueck.

EDIT: Not to forget another bonus with Berlin. Cafe Oberholz. The best geek cafe in the world. Bring your laptop there in the morning. Buy a cup of coffee. Sit there all day and all evening. Come back the next day. Everybody there does it. Sure beats the IM blues.

Okay you cannot judge a whole continent and call it close minded since I have hear plenty of Europeans say North America is
close minded and its not either. Besides close minded is all relative to the person's judgement of others. Find new people or you will
end up calling the whole world close minded.

Many EU countries tax you for your worldwide income ONLY if you live there 6+ out of 12 months per year. Since you can travel and work freely around the EU (and you are young), you can live in 2 countries and legally pay nothing (assuming your income is online from countries other than those 2).

    See for example: http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/job-search/taxes/italy/employed_en.htm

    How 's that for open-minded? :D

Hi Philipp, Grüße aus Köln :)
Are you sure it's illegal what you do? Afaik everytime a game developer has gone to court concerning bots (Blizzard vs Bossland, Blizzard vs Ceiling Fan Software), it was because of the distribution of bots. And that's something you don't do, right? But I don't know for sure and I would recommend you to seek advice from a lawyer.

Germany in general is a great market for IM, as it's one of the most lucrative and important European markets . But yeah, you know as good as I do that we have some of the toughest internet laws on the planet and it sucks big time.
If I were you, I wouldn't bother with the USA. American companies and lawyers take copyright infringements just as serious as germans do. So you would gain no advantage by immigrating to the USA. Better think about Thailand or some other Asian country. I was thinking avout exactly the same and I would have choose Thailand, because it's a beautiful country and living expenses are really really low compared to Germany. In Thailand you can live really good from like $1000 a month. The more the better of course. But in Germany you would be considered as poor with only $1000 a month. Big difference!
Fast and stable internet connection is availabe in all larger towns. I don't know about smaller towns.
There are already a lot of Internet Marketers in Thailand, many moved in from the USA, the UK and so on. So connecting with others who are in the same situation is easy.
Sadly my Mom got ill, that's why I stay in Germany. Otherwise I would have been long gone.

It depends where you go and generally i'd not say germany is close minded...
US is not much different and once you live here you will notice that. Think about it when was a person actually sentenced to pay 100s of thousands of euros for downloading anything etc? The risk is not given in gemrany compared to the us. Anyways keep in mind healthcare etc. etc. as you wont have that in some places . Might say well I am healthy but if that changes and you do not have money, good luck!
Travel and see for yourself, although obviously things are 100% different when you live and work there.
    good luck

If you would like to move out from Europe and enjoy a good standard of living Asiia is the place to be - specifically Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and India. There are some countries in Asia that I would avoid due to bad situations prevailing in those countries e.g Syria which is in the news now but you get the idea about which countries I am talking about without going into details here.

There are many posts in quite a few IM forums about Americans and Europeans living in Thailand and enjoying a good standard of living as well as maintaining a flourishing IM business. Some of the most successful internet marketers live in Asia and write about their experience regularly on their blogs. One of the best advantages of IM is that you can work from anywhere in the world as long as you have a computer and an internet connection! There are plenty of non-native internet marketers who stay in these countries and do their business without any issue. I know of regular meet ups between IM-ers in Thailand - in fact an international IM summit was held there recently. A top world advertising conference was held in New Delhi in India last year.

Phuket and Chiang Mai are preferred places in Thailand to live in.

Philippines is great too because it is a hub for outsourcing and a fantastic place to live. So too is India and many foreigners live in Goa - I know many foreigners in Goa who have made it a second home. The larger and well known cities in India like Mumbai and New Delhi might not suit you if you come from Europe since they are quite crowded. But places like Goa already cater to an international crowd and you will find yourself comfortable there. By the way I live in India and have travelled to almost all the Asian countries that I have mentioned above(except Japan) so this is first hand information.

Working in Philippines and India can be an advantage if you outsource a lot of work because then you will be where the action is - you can get your work done even better if you are living in the same location as your outsourcer!

There are absolutely no restrictions on Paypal in any of these countries. In India the Reserve Bank does not allow payment between Indians through Paypal due to tax evasion issues but if you are not an Indian it does not affect you in any way. Indians also cannot keep a Paypal balance for the same reason but if you are a German with a German PP account I don't think it will affect you especially if you keep the Paypal folks informed about your change of residence.

The above is true, authentic information - I wrote this post after seeing wrong information being posted about Asia right after the OP. So don't be misled by wrong information and do your own research as well before you take an important decision that will affect your life and business:).

And if you are looking for a solution than any country that is not part of EU and it is still in Europe would be good choice.
Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania are top of my choice as my neighbors and you do not have to pay any taxes if you do not make money in the country like a salary. If you have worldwide debit cards for payment such as payoneer or paxum or mb-mastercard you can withdraw on any ATM and pay on any POS and have a good life there.
I do this and i am not only talking but practicing this..

English speaking countries with decent salaries and sunny weather: US(Cali, FL) + Australia.
    Nothing sunny about England.
But in your case Germany is a great country to stay with. Market is less competitive
