For those who do body building here, what is the Best Protein Shake to Build Muscle?

I've researched and found lots but want to know which ones are effective, if they are anyway.

lol not really the best forum to ask this.

Check out the bodybuilding.com forum, heaps of info over there for that stuff.

But if you ask me Musclepharm Combat Powder is a good pick, it's a mix of various types of protein powders which is arguably better then just having straight Whey powder. ON Whey powder is the standard when it comes to straight Whey powder.

But at the end of the day, you need to be going to the gym regularly and be following a proper diet, that's going to be way more beneficial then just having a bunch of protein powder.

Yes gold standard whey from ON is my favourite and get rocky road :)

Apart from shakes don't forget your eggs, chicken and other high protein foods, supplements are only supplements.

protein shakes are good but most of them are the same. I'm in the UK and use myprotein impact whey, which is cheap and high in protein (they supply the england rugby team) if you live outside the uk, ON (optimum nutrition) gold standard is cheap and good, and apparently musclepharm combat tastes awesome.

if you want a shake to build muscle, that doesn't exist. you have to work out, tear your muscle fibre and get protein to your muscle to rebuild it bigger, testosterone plays a major part in synthesising the protein amino acids to the muscle.

with protein shakes is best to get one that is either cheap (so you don't go out of pocket) or tasty (so you can keep it down) and make sure the protein content is high. their are other protein shakes like musletech masstech which have other ingredients to aid in muscle growth (like creatine).

I suggest you go over to bodybuildingcom and to the forum for more advice and check out the store and find the most popular protein (its probably the best)

To build muscle you need 1g/lb of bodyweight. Get it from food if you can much better than supplements.

Old school lifter here. I only drank Banana shakes because I liked the taste of them. Used to eat a large tin of tuna after a session. Protein will only help with muscle repair so you got to be lifting big and getting Protein in before and immediately after you train.

Milk and raw eggs with a bit of honey. Stir violently & drink for breakfast. Everything else harmful hype.

Guys, there is no such thing as the best protein powder. Our bodies are different therefore a supplement that works for some people might not bring impressive results for the other. This is why you have to chose a certain product and stick to it for 3-6 weeks to see whethere it brings results or not.

However, dont forget a thing: the main purpose of the supplements is to SUPPLEMENT, not to build. Stick to high protein foods and you should be ok.
PS: here is a PRO tip for the ones using protein/carb powders: whenever you drink your shake, eat also a slice of bread or something else solid. Our system is programmed to deal only with solid food, therefore liquid shakes might not bring too many benefits. Try it and you'll thank me later. Most of the active bodybuilders I know do the same and trust me, you can easily see the difference.

I've been gaining much more recently without protein shakes.

Everyday before bed I eat about 4-5 tablespoons of peanut butter. It is god's gift to bodybuilders, cheap and high in protein and calories.

+ after every workout I eat a large potato and a can of tuna.
+ breakfast is normally an omelette.

I work in the bodybuilding industry and this is spot on. Musclepharm Combat powder would be a nice choice for you. To be honest, there really is no "Best" unless you know exactly what you want. You can create your own through a few sites, but I wouldn't suggest doing that until you know what your doing.

Don't fall for all the marketing hype and shit, mate .. Honestly, I have been there and done that!

I have bought countless different products, and they all do the same job. The amount of muscle you build has nothing to do with what protein you take in, it's how hard you train, and how much rest you have. You could get by fine with just foods from protein, like people have done for hundreds of years .. Naturally, there is only a certain amount of muscle your body can build, no amount of whey protein can change that.

If you are in the UK, check out myprotein.com .. It's cheap, tastes great and has more than enough protein per serving
