title says it all: what is the best way to find the names of local business owners?
Search them up on the BBB's site. Has this accurate and complete for ~98% of them. Careful they'll ban your IP if you exceed 250 requests in 24 hours.
http://www.manta.com/ is a business directory that lists the owners name most of the time.
I have full scrapes of both sites. The problem with Manta is their data isn't as accurate. By default Manta profiles are generated. Business owners have to elect to manually takes the time to update their profiles. BBB requires their listees to actually put their real information on file through their local chapter, and if this is inaccurate they don't stand a chance getting accredited. Both directories allow self-reporting, but since every business wants to be rated well on the BBB, fewer are willing to risk getting a bad reputation just for not using an exact legal name.
Since BBB chapters are locally-oriented, they actually will look into the accuracy of their data, whereas Manta won't care nearly as much. All they require is telephone verification. Additionally, manta does not require the mr/ms/mrs, which can be especially helpful for mailing lists or addressing someone correctly on a call. Therefore, instead of "Bob Smith", you get "Mr. Robert A. Smith". Much more useful. If you have to trust one or the other, go with BBB every time.
All of the above plus I find my local business owners with LinkedIn, Google+ & Social Media
Separate names with a comma.
