    Hey Guys!

I've been to Thailand 2 years ago and I really enjoyed my stay and last year I was in Cuba and I'll be honest with you guys - it completly sucked compared to Thailand or other places I've been to.

When I was in Thailand before my stay was divided like this:

    3 days in Bangkok
7 days in Impiana Resort - Pattong, Phukket
6 days on Phi Phi islands - very relaxing but the last 2 days I was bored as hell.

So I was looking into some Travel Packages and I noticed the Beyond Resort in Khao Lak but then I read in Trip Advisor that there aren't any Water Sports, Adult and GoGo Bars, or good snorkeling/scuba diving spots nearby(the closest one being 80 minutes away with a fast motorboat).

So which part of Thailand or of Phukket would you guys reccomend to me ?

    Basically my requirements are :

Jet Ski and other Water Sports
Good Snorkeling and Scuba Diving spots(reefs, sunken ships etc)
    Good NightLife

I am thinking about going to Pattong again but I am open to suggestions.

P.S I am thinking of spending 2-3 days in Bankok and I know there are quite a few IMers which live in Thailand we could organize a meeting( I personally know a few people from Wickedfire that live there) :)

Hey, i live in thailand half of the year hoping to move there full time if i can start making decent money online. I'll help you out the best i can.

Judging by what you said Patong could be a great spot for you if you want a good beach and activity's with a crazy nightlife. Personally if I'm visiting the beach while i'm living there i go to Railey Beach in Krabi its quiet and sporty i love rock climbing there but not a great nightlife. If you want great beaches and go go bars etc Patong is good or Pattaya but there beaches aren't that great and it's more of a spot if your just interested in sex.

I live in chiang mai so i like things a little more quite and less touristy but those are great spots for a vacation. I can recommend you some hotels etc in patong,or pattaya or krabi if you like. just give me a ball park of how much you want to spend. When ever my friends come to visit me in thailand they always stay in hotels in those areas so i know some places

I really enjoyed Koh Samui while I was there last year. There is excellent diving on nearby Koh Tao and if you time it right you can also catch the Full Moon party on Koh Phagnan.

i have lived in thailand 14 yrs. DO NOT GO TO PATTAYA lol i live here , pattaya is the pits, im looking to get out.

anyway , Hua hin is nice, and theres a daily catamaran to samui ( 5 hrs by boat ) but if u want diving / water sports then u do need the adaman sea. phi phi etc.

from what i know there are 12 bhatters over here. a couple of ozzies ( phuket ),some brits (me , and bkk ) and a few americans ( bkk ), but also about 3-4 thais who from bhw.

    have a good trip.

edited ,..... the best diving in thailand, kho nang yuan , the only place in the world where 3 islands are joined by sand banks, and turtles , fish eat out ur hands in 2 feet of water it is that rife with sea life. excellent dive place.

Pattaya is good if you like living in Mini-Russia :)

I would slice the trip up and start in the North of Thailand, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and the general Golden Triangle Area... fly in to Chiang Rai from Bangkok do a tour ending in Chiang Mai and fly straight down to Phuket for R&R.

I always use the same guide, Sergeant Kai, who takes you to a few 'unusual' places. We stood in the trenches in no mans land on the Burma border with all the Thai soldiers... looking over to the Burmese bases :) did some excellent river rafting.. hiking.. one river the bridge was washed away and the guy took out a swiss army knife and started cutting down bamboo (Coke can thick) and built a new bridge there and then.

The R&R afterwards is well needed though :)

i have a house in pattaya , pool, jaccuzzi.... i party at home, i dont go to the bars lol

my only problem now is to sell it, and its not easy in this climate, and in pattaya now , it is around 2 deaths a day , or suicides as the thais say, and to many westerners are living on the streets here , they have just brought out a new law for foreign beggers here. instant depostation , so if u got no money to fly home, live on the streets and get a free flight home.

lol i live in the states a round trip ticket cost me $1600. So from now on i'll just buy a one way ticket then go beg in pattaya when i'm ready to go home and save myself $800 a trip lol :D

Also are you married to a thai? because i heard you can't buy a house as foreigner although i never actually tried i just rent a nice one bedroom apartment for the 6 months I'm there. Although when i move there full time if i make enough online i would like to own a place i heard theres some loop hole with like leasing or something

you can buy a house with litte ground.....without wife its legal or an condomium but its limited to half a rai or somehting like that.
Other way is over a company limeted....members thais...get money each year so that you have the majority voting right. Rent something long term or buy legal on your own...never over thai wife maiden name its illegal and you can do nothing about it if she goes nuts...and 95% go nuts with money over the time. Gambling is very popular..pok deng.... and things like that.

There are a lot of other countrys which are more foreigner friendly from the laws. Thail laws are racistic against other nationality...

One Thai rule...a Thai allways will help a Thai..... before he helps someone other.

To be specific the thai law is especially thai male friendly but not farang friendly.

And all the company there which work from farangs for farangs are tricking around only want one thing your money. So be careful.

    Regards

Ah...important...dont do drugs.... that can give death penalty.
Dont play with sharp guns or buy one. One cartrige is 3 year prison. You can buy yourself free but think about 50.000$ and 5 years ban from
    entering the country.

If you have a girl friend she can apply easily for gun. Every Thai is allowed to buy one short gun and one rile. If he prooves the need. But thats
a money thing i can tell you. I bought a remington 870 express magnum over my gf in thailand. They took fingerprints from here at the police.
On your ground you can use it but a foreigner should not go partying with gun.

If you want to buy things send gf or wife upfront a thai cant cheat on a thai like on an farang. Makes a lot of savings over the time :)

Dont enter a Ground office with gf...i got thrown out becouse the female office chief claimend we were married but we werent. But no argue
allowed. Next day she bought the ground with me waiting before the ground office.....yes thats racistict but TIT this is Thailand.

Hua Hin is smal but no much diving spots but a Bar road and some Thai brothels.
Pattaya i would avoid allways if not needed to stay there. Realy Sodom and Ghomorra.

I have lived in Chiang Mai for the last 2.5 years and I love it.

It doesn't have your snorkeling or Jet Skiing but it is a nice chilled out place.

I meet a lot of people who come here traveling and say yeah the beaches are cool but they prefer to stay up here than anywhere else.

The city is not as spread out as BKK so that is a bonus. It has plenty of night life. Any kind you mite want. From Student areas to touristy areas.

When are you planning on coming?

Koh Samui is too commercial/touristy/crowded nowadays. Hua hin might be good if you are over 60. Kho tao for cheap diving but dead otherwise. Koh Phagnan for couples/diving (no nightlife). Full/half moon parties are overrated.
But this is my personal opinion and people have different requirements/expectations.
My favorite would be to go to one of the many waterfalls (e.g. Pala-U, Kanchanaburi). They are beautiful and quite unique. Nightlife is cheap since it's targeted towards the locals. You can bring your own bottles with hard liquor so you only end up paying a couple of dollars for soda + ice. As a bonus you are kind of the star as the only tourist :)
