    What do you guys think the best IT job is? Best - as in work environment and of course pay :). I'll be starting school soon, still trying to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life as a career, I've been thinking Network Engineer, but I'm still deciding. I live in California.

    Or you can post what you went to school for, and your experience with it...

    My buddy went to school for 2 years and got a job as an network engineer and makes $50k.

    He likes it. The pay is good, and he gets increases every year.

    Not for me, though. I like the freedom of owning my own biz.

    Right now IT Project Management is the highest paying field in IT, with an average salary around $112K. An applications developer average salary is around $85K at the moment.

    You'll need a degree to break into project management, but not necessarily so for software development.

    currently making $125k/yr

    imo making money is much less about your actual skills and more about how you sell yourself to the company. most people just suck at doing interviews and salary negotiations.

    lol

    (also banking an additional $100k/yr from this internet marketing shit)

    :)

    Simple answer - Anything - do what you love, you'll be better at it too! Trust me on this one!

    If you're the best in the field pf what you do you'll get a top salary regardless of the niche, and you're more likely to be the best at it if you love what you do.

    I am an electrical engineer who would be looking for an IT position soon as the jobs in my area are limited.So what should I learn to get the required skills to get into a pay scale of 125K$ per year in an IT company?
    I know a bit of HTML&C++ a little bit.
