I would like to hear people's experience with the number of words they generally use for their articles meant to rank keywords. This isn't about quality, just the quantity. I know the quality is important but even 500 words can be high quality, however, I doubt 500 words will help with ranking anything beyond low comp keywords. I thinking of doing 2000 words minimum articles but want to know if people have success with a lower amount, around 1000. Any help is appreciated.

That's where I'm at right now. I want to fill my site with content but don't want to be excessive because good writing is costly (it's a good investment though). I'm planning on only going 2500+ words for the articles I want to go "viral" but it might become my standard amount for all articles. For product reviews, I'm thinking of aiming for around 1000 words. Good luck with your website.

If it's about on site content then anything between 1500-2000 words will work for good rankings, however, people generally buy 300-500 words articles for third party postings or for their on site blogs.

You thinking in good way. In longer article you can just include more keywords. Don't listen fairy tales about "minimum length 1700 words" or similar.

It actually depends on the niche. Yoast suggests more than 300 words.

Read your article right after you write it. Check if it bores you or not. If you just fluff it to follow SEO, it won't get your audience attention.

You can write more than 2,000 words as long as you make complete sense. :)

To rank your post, there must be a minimum of 1500 words. Rest depends on how competitive your keyword is.

Analyze your completion using screaming frog ( free tool ) and see what the top 5 are doing in your niche. Once you have the number go for it.
Also keep in mind that as per backlinko The average Google first page result contains 1,890 words.

In your mind for sure, but you're not able to thinking at all by wrote this sentence.
Brian produce content for such people.

He just write what he found around the web without checking if first and talking about it "skyscraper technique"
In reality such technique was used 5 years earlier before he wrote first post.

And no one real test on his boring blog, just only myths from whole web.
in fact, in one thing he's good - begs for links.

But it's not the seo, it's mendicancy.

    So keep follow him.

Your guru "The average Google first page result contains 1,890 words" can be compared to:

"We taken 1M humans and 1M dogs. At average each human and each dog have 3 legs - Brian D."

So, keep follow him as I'm told you, you will learn same,
because you're not able to understand that such "average" worth just a little less than garbage.

Also will be nice if you'll use feature "ignore" my posts, because you're not able understand about what I am talking.
    Thank you.

Somewhere between 1500 - 3000. But of course you have to take into account other factors.

If a search query can be answered in 50 words please do it in 50 words only and no need to add unnecessary cluttered text making no sense.

If the keyword gets lots of monthly searches and sees a good competition from other guys, then please analyze each site and get an average of total word count and aim for that word count.

    Hope you got the point.
