What is your personal record time for getting a #1 spot (im guessing many of you can hit them at least over night) for phrases with 10-100 searches a day?

More importantly, how the hell did you do it? Link trading? One way links from high PR sites like twitter, hub, squidoo, etc? ********? articles? directories? all of the above????

*I ask because I have a PR4 in the top 5 for half a dozen HIGH competition words that i continue to struggle to get ranked #1 for the low competition. Very frustrating and confusing as that seems to be backward. I barely hit 20 uniques a day and getting several 10 search/day phrases would be a god send as it would multiple my traffic and revenue.*

post methods or pm me and i'll add it here myself.

and articles. write 5-10 articles about your site/store/whatever it is your doing. find someone who can submit that to a bunch of article outlets.

I just started an eBay affiliate store (BANs) and I am already onthe front page for a lot of longtail (which is exacly what I was hoping for) with simple directory submissions.

Now, if only eBay would approve my affiliate application.

been there done that. with the recent google answers that came out that signify article submissions having less value, and directory submissions probably having less as well, that leaves article/directory submissions as a dying method.

one particular phrase i have 3 articles that have been submitted to over 50 article directories each, and submitted to over 100 directories....im stalled at #9 with less than 40,000 direct competitors ("phrase")

try more than one methods ... directory submit / articles / link exchange ... link spamming .. ;)

lol i have....thats why im at a loss. here is what i have done for a particular phrase with <40k direct competitors (all unranked) that gets 100 searches a day. Using my PR4 no less.

submitted 3 articles to over 50 article sites. submitted to ~100 directories. Two link exchanges with same niche PR3 sites (using phrase for anchor of course). about 2 dozen do follow comments and about 2 dozen no follow comments. submitted to ~40 scuttle/plus sites, and a few of the biggie social sites. Have internal links from my main page to make sure i saturate a little bit more.

Still sitting at #9.

over a week ago for all of the above (directories are about 3 weeks).

EDIT: when i analyze the top competitors, not ONE...i repeat, not ONE is using the phrase in any reported backlinks

Now that Ebay manages their own network, you should get the approval in a day's time... atleast I got mine.

put more content on your page, its better then submitting to hubpage, squido from what I've experienced.

It took me 6 weeks and 2 tries to get approved. 3 weeks for the first attempt, they rejected me after I sent an email asking how long approval process takes. The 2nd time I submitted a different site with about 5 pages of content and 3 weeks later I was approved.

i got on page 1 spot one for low competition but a high searched prhase(3k searches per day) in 3 days and am still there.

I have been successful at getting indexed and (and sometimes) on the front page of G overnight using this method on free WP sites.

Select a theme with the sidebar on the right side only.
Create a site with your keyword phrase in the domain name.
Go to the about me post and put your kw phrase in the post title.
Make a post at least 300 - 400 words.
Use your kw phrase in the first sentence and once again in the last paragraph.
Don't use that kw phrase again anywhere, but if you can find other related kw phrases, put in one or two - don't over do it by kw stuffing.

Delete the 2 wp default links that come in the WP theme.
Go into the settings and change the Permalinks to custom - /%postname%/
If you have the plugin for a tag cloud, put one in your side bar.
If you have the allinone SEO plugin, set it up and use it.

Go to Big G news and do a search for news stories with your kw in them.
Put the RSS feed from that on your sidebar.

Goto autopinger.com and ping your blog.

I have had almost every blog indexed overnight using this method.

I have built sites that were monetized and non monetized to test if there was a difference in indexing speed and haven't seen a difference, except for one thing. If I had Ebay listings on the front page, it took longer to index the site. As long as I didn't have ads on the front page, indexing was quick. Later I go back and put the Ebay listings on the front page.

social bookmarking and link from your blog farm will get you there in less than 4 hours. Aim for the high PR sites

All that work just use Fake Hits Wizard is get back links from your competition

Another powerful method that gets overlooked is internal linking within your own blog or website.

Make sure you link your desired page within your website with the keyword that you are trying to rank for at Google.

This can definitely help you rise in the search rankings.

what was the competition? 100k? 10k? lower? what was your method for getting the top spot?

to address some of the comments listed:

the phrase i am working on, i have linked internally (no follow on links that do not help to help funnel more internal juice)...so that hasnt helped much at all

a blog farm? this is what i am about to attempt over the next few days....theory: use squidoo/hub/etc to point to blogger blogs that point to my site through anchored funneled links

i have also found that multiple posts optimized for the phrase get me better results. but this becomes HORRIBLY time consuming when your running multiple blogs ( i have 5 ) and writing 3-5 posts for each for each phrase will get a bit overwhelming. if it works it works and i'll do it. however, an automated system would be preferred

the competition was around 400k.
all the methods i used were from bhw itself.nothing hi-fi or special.

just build pr to your domain.. if you put a page up on it targeting low comp phrase, the ranking should be yours!

I've hit number 1 in about a week on a few Bans sites I built. However the ranking never lasted. I'm guessing its do to the fact that they were low competition buying keywords on top of the "vokram" (spell it backwards) effect the bans script produces.
