Not sure if this is the right or ideal place to post this, but here it goes: I'm helping out a friend on his project and he's trying to create a marketplace website with multivendor support. What I mean is users are able to signup and post items up for sale, just like eBay or Etsy. Not sure how it happened or if it was a great idea, but he went on and bought WP MuDev's (maker of BuddyPress) MarketPress -- a Wordpress-based multivendor plugin. The thing is there seems to be only one theme available, and it is a parent theme with a very basic and not very aesthetically-pleasing child theme. A very hot mess to customize from the ground up. My friend is an electrical engineer, no rocket scientist or web designer. It also isn't the easiest to use for the end user. Do you guys have any experiences on using scripts that perform these functions? I've looked at SiteMile, WPMuDev, Magento's multivendor script, some more, and this $900 script that is very good, but way too expensive. Do you guys have any experiences on creating sites such as this, or familiar with multivendor scripts? I think the only reason he choose Wordpress was because he can't really create themes and Wordpress already has an amazing bank of templates and themes.
