    Hey guys,

I was wondering, whats the best and cheapest hosting to survive the reddit hug of death? Meaning that the post hits the front page and my website gets tens or hundreds of thousands of hits in a small time frame? Also would you recommend cloudflare and maybe something else?

    Thanks a lot!
    Alma

I would suggest setting up a Load Balancing network with Digital Ocean, we can handle about 14K hit per minute with stress tests with our current set up.

It depends, you could go for a dedicate server on Ovh. My maximum was 2500 users online at same time, around 15 users per second. Are you talking about more than that?
For 15 users per second, I had a dedicated server with ngix and cloudflare setup, worked pretty well. I'm paying ~80 dollars per month for the server with SSD.
If you don't mind... Are you doing well with Adsense? Heard that Reddit traffic sucks for Adsense and that they will report your post when they see ads etc.

Hey, do you use the free plan with cloudflare or the paid one? I have found a way to get reddit posts to the top, so I have yet to test how much will adsense make. For the starters I need to host the website :)

I use the 20/month plan. The only reason I'm paying 20 is for the Web application firewall and their Image polish. The only difference between the free version and the expensive ones are the DDos protection, but you won't need that. So go for the free plan. Also, if you expect a lot of traffic, don't make the mistake of going for a shared hosting, it will get suspended or will be down due the lack of resources.

I've gotten on the front page of Reddit once and my Adsense earnings were around $20. Don't know if that's good but I didn't like it for the effort I put into getting there.

Reddit traffic is usually less than that since redditors usually just stay on your site for <15seconds

Edit:forgot to mention I spent like $10 on upvotes which helped although it was still a gamble since the other times I bought $10 worth of upvotes I didn't get anywhere

I would recommend setting up your own webserver on a VPS with decent resources for more stability.

Its hard to find a shared hosting that wont limit you on resources, ]once you hit that top page your website will be down.
