I've got my domain but it's on Godaddy and I want to change the hosting provider for when I sell my product on Shopify.

Can anyone tell me what they think is the best one to go for please? Or is the hosting that Shopify does good enough?

Really depends on what your end goal is.

If you are just starting out and have no business right now and really not a programmer then Shopify IMO would be the way to go. Easy and fast to get set up.

If you want more control and you have some programming skills then I would recommend setting up your own web site. Will cut your fees in the long run plus you have more control over how the site works.

IMO having it on your own hosting will cost less in the long run if you plan on sticking around. Your start up cost will be a little more but IMO worth it in the end.

If this is your first store and not really sure its going to work or not then I would start with shopify.

As far as what host to go with That is really up to you. Everyone has their own view of different companies. What works for one might not work for another.

I would recommend doing some research on the host. I would recommend my self www.centexhosting.com and www.powersurge.com and then www.hostdime.com if i had to recommend anyone else.

Shopify is the only place to build a shopify store. No other hosting provider is allowed to host a shopify store. Other Hosts can have WooCommerce, Magento, Opencart, Prestashop, BigCommerce, Volusion. But Shopify is supposedly Dummy Proof - anyone can do it. The other options require some knowledge and hard work.

I think Volusion, Magento and BigCommerce are direct competitors of Shopify offering similar easiness.

This is just from my own research. I haven't personally tried this. I'm going with WooCommerce and hiring a developer. 6 months of Shopify is 30 x 6 = $180. 6 months of my hosting is $60 + custom theme + development costs

    ^^^ very helpful info thanks!

It turns out I cannot use their hosting as I could only use their hosting if I bought the domain from them originally. So I have to use a different hosting service then direct the website to Shopify. They recommended I host at Hover.com, is this any good?

If you are looking for great customer service and someone who knows what they are talking about then Stratus4.com is the host to use.
Their support is available 24/7 and I usually get a response within 15 minutes of opening a ticket.

Their speed connectivity is ok. Use 15% OFF CODE: S415OFF
