Say you were looking to purchase Nikee.com

(Not looking to do this with big companies but let's say so for this example)

Obviously you wouldn't go to GoDaddy or NameCheap

So where do you go to register a domain like this?

I been hearing NameSilo but they are located in the USA so they would roll over.

    Thoughts on: https://njal.la/ ?

Looks like I can pay with XMR and be 100% anon

Probably one based in China, but if it's a small company, I don't think you'll run into issues anyway. I have a few on name.com, but the traffic isn't really worth, it if it's not a domain with large amounts of traffic. I spent $100 on typos (medium sized websites), and got roughly 100 hits in about 3 months. Half was bot traffic (crawlers).

Personally I use whatever's the cheapest. I wouldn't go with a foreign host though. Some countries require ID for you to purchase their domain extension.

I don't remember the name since I never had to use them, but they've been mentioned on BHW a few times, at least years ago. If you search for a bit, you should be able to find them.

The bottom line is that it doesn't really matter what registrar you use. All domain registrations are subject to ICANN's UDRP (Uniform Domain Registration Policy), regardless of the country of origin of the registrar.

Being transparent in the whois is another thing, altogether. That is where privacy protection comes in, one of the optional features available to you (often at an extra cost), via your registrar... but whois privacy does not protect you from the reach of ICANN or a party who feels you have registered a domain violating trademark.

Registering a typo domain or a domain potentially infringing trademark is a roll of the dice. Most of the time, if it's a typo of a small company, you'll probably be just fine, but if you're looking to run with the big guys, such as Nike/Nikee, chances are nearly certain that you're going to lose that domain to them in the long run (that's provided that you can even register such a domain... most major typos were registered long ago).

Over the years, I've won/lost about 50% of my UDRP cases. One loss in particular that stung was losing ColorClub, early in my investing career before I even knew about UDRP.

    I wish you the best.

You can try Dynadot, Namecheap, Hostinger, they usually has good prices for domains.
