Onimator can feel a bit clunky especially the timer settings, the ui could definitely be more intuitive.
 
Yeah, the timing can be a pain. Have you tried using keyframes instead of the built-in timers? Might give you finer control.
 
Many people use Onimator because they do regular updates to their software. Even though it has its flaws, just contact support and they are normally on it.
