Hi, so I?m about to get my first product and website up and running in a few days, but I want to make sure I do everything right from the start and want to form a LLC. While I do plan on consulting an Accountant, I still want to learn what I can when it comes to running a LLC by myself with things like taxes, finance, hiring contractors on sites like oDesk, paying myself and just anything else I need to keep in mind that I may not know of, to make sure I don?t do anything wrong. So where is a good place to learn what I need, like any good books or websites? Also just any good books overall when it comes to running a business by myself and try to create a good sustainable business plan?

    Thanks

Thanks for the help, seems like they have a lot of great stuff there. Any course you have used that focuses on what I'm mainly looking for? I'm also still open to any other ideas of help I can get.

What questions do you have about an LLC? What state are you in?

I currently live in New Jersey and I basically want to learn everything I can about starting and running a LLC. At this point I know very little so I don't even know what questions to ask. Maybe I have been googling it wrong, but I just couldn't find any good information online about them, so I really just want to make sure to learn all that I need to know, so that I don't run in to any trouble down the road because I did something wrong.

    Thanks

sba.gov (SmallBusinessAdministration) is a great place to start. They can get you the proper paperwork to get started.

There are a couple basic rules that, if followed, will keep everything nice and simple.Rule #1, don't commingle funds.Rule #2, refer back to rule #1.Rule #3, any time you sign your name, sign it as "John Smith, Manager" and then write the name of your LLC underneath. This means you are signing on behalf of the LLC and not for yourself personally.Follow these basic rules, get yourself a good tax guy, and you'll be set.
