While looking for domains, I often stumble upon domains that cost a few thousand $$$, but which have an amazing backlink portfolio.

Here's an example (yes, this website is available, and if anyone wants, he can register it):
D7TpngP

ax4oNTd

MA4O9u4

wKqyopb

Gis5C1X

This got me into thinking. Isn't it worth paying the $2750 (as in this example) for a very strong domain with a good backlink portfolio if it fits in the same niche that I want to build my new site about?

Because we Black Hat SEO guys (even white SEO) are spending thousands on link building to rank our pages. And it'll literally take 1-2 years to build as strong site as in the picture. And it still would cost 10x more to get links like this domain has.

Or am I wrong? Are the $2750 worth the benefits, or the SEO benefits won't be as strong as I think they will?

What do you think? Has anyone got experience in this field?

We don't buy an (expired) domain because the former owner did their duty to build backlinks, PR and/or reputation. In fact, it is the opposite, we buy a site because somebody screwed it big time but we could profit from it:

a) We know the person that he or she could buy it.
b) We know the market where to sell it.
c) Or we could profit on your own.

IMHO, I won't pay premium for any that it is not a real .com

$2,750 might seem to much for some, but if the domain is used as a money site on the right niche you can get the money back in no time. I know a website with a similar backlink profile that makes lots of cash.

This site might work with some aero technical niche

It was just an example site.
As I said, there are tons of sites in the price range of $2000-$3000. If a domain would be in the same niche as I were to build a site, would that be beneficial in terms of SEO to buy such a site? Because Spending the same amount of money on links won't get the stats of the site anywhere near the stats that this site has.

I don´t have that much experience with expired domains but it just makes perfect sense from my perspective to purchase/invest in a 5+ year old domain with solid metrics and an outstanding backlink profile that has already an authority in a particular niche rather than building one from scratch.

At the end, i am guessing you will spend the same (or even more) amount of money to get the same results but buing an expired domain will save you a shit load of time.

I don´t know if i am missing something or am i oversimplifying things.

Completely viable approach and you would be surprised how many people actually use it.

Yes, you will save money on SEO big time. Regarding the price, that domain is actually worth those $2500 no problem and it's not even that much. If it were in health niche, regardless of how brandable it would be, the price would go to around $10 - 15K+. And why do you think people pay so much for those non brandable health domains? :)

Making money sites out of big domains doesn't always work, but if you stick to the niche relevancy, you have a very good chance that it will rank very very well if you just add content, do proper onsite SEO and simply wait.

In my opinion it is worth it, if you've done the math and can monetize it, or use it to backup your moneymaker site, but it's always tricky to see the full picture of an expired domain and see if there is a hidden issue that might make it useless to you.

I’m not surprised. That’s exactly what I thought. Thanks!

Anyone here can admit that they’re using this strategy? Any interesting results?

My thought....

I have not bought into a $2k+ domain for my backlinks before and i think if i have that amount i can give a try...

But many of these such domains are probably on sale for one BAD reason or another cos i cant think of why someone will sell a domain with good metrics

Also i believe that these such domains have inflated metrics through black hat so that the DA, PA, can entice buyers. However if the backlinks are from good authority domains and not spammy...sure i can buy such domains

The .org extension is what puts me off on this concrete domain.
