Hi very cool, helpful thread thank you!
I got a 6 month old site, PR1. Site used to be #3 in its niche now not even at top 1000. Also had 2 other KW's sitting at #21 and #26 also nowhere to be found.
Link building - a few social bookmarking runs with BMD, senuke blast and a very good hand made link pyramid for one of the service threads on BHW.
Never did any direct scrapebox blasts, xrumers or copied content links pointing to it.
Thanks for your time and +rep for you even if you don't pick me
Go for it, shoot me your url -
Remember I wont mention your url
I have a website that had been stuck at the second page for months, i have done a lot of linkbuilding then it disappeared for the main keyword i am targeting, traffic raised this month from internal pages that i haven't targeted so much but can't see it in the serp for months for my main keyword and i don't know why.
I have done similar linkbuilding to many other websites and ranked them easily.
Thanks and Rep Given
Send you a PM - thanks for your time
I have a 2 and a half year old site, PR3. Used to be getting xx,xxx unique visitors per day, now dropped to x,xxx visitors.
Over the years, I've had SB blasts done, Xrumer blasts, and BMD blasts done. Nothing huge, just enough to rank some internal pages.
The past several months traffic has gotten better and better, and after the last Panda update, my earnings skyrocketed. Not long ago however, my index URL was removed from Google (I never received word of it - just poof), but my traffic only dropped about 5%, and that was OK. My internal pages were still ranking - up until this panda, when my top traffic generating keywords all dropped from #1-3 to #6-10.
I still have hundreds in the top 5, and I think the reason the articles I was trying to rank for have fallen is due to the length of them being too short. Still, other sites haven't been punished when writing the same length articles.
Since Panda hit, I haven't made any backlinks to it, as I figured it might look suspicious (I haven't backlinked the site in the past month or two anyway, due to other sites I've opened and have been working on.)
According to Yahoo Site Explorer a month or so ago, there were 100-120,000 backlinks to the site.
I can make this one quite easy, I might come across as harse but I don't really care
Your site looks ok, but its an affiliate site and nothing more
On your home page you have 3 clickbank affiliate links which tells Google that you're nothing than an affiliate so why would they rank you? Some pages have about 5/6 affiliate links? You don't sell anything so why rank you? At least try and mask those links!
What you need to do is try an make out that your site actually SELLs a product, not just link to a third party, if you can mask that affiliate link OR buy resell rights to the actual product and sell it directly? if you cant buy resell rights then put nofollow tags on the links!! Actually you should put nofollow tags on any links that is a business arrangement.
You might want to think about becoming an authority site by turning it into a blog, then you can have good content but still promote your affiliate stuff. You could easily write about that niche weekly, outreach to sites that are related to yours!
You're content seems to be original but you really need to update it much more than you're doing at the moment, your home page seems to be static, try and add a widget or something and please do try and update at least once a week, it looks like a niche that you could carry on with for a long time so stop being lazy! Your cache dates are over 10 days old!
What you have to remember if that every girly magazine, newspaper and dating website is churning out content about that niche so you nee dto think of ways to generate good content that people want to link to
The title tags and metas need to be looked at, it looks like you have rushed these? You need to shrink these down and be more 'snappy' and focus only on your keywords! Even if you got to #1 in the serps I would think you would lose traffic due to your description tags being a bit.....poor
Alt tags seem to be your long tail keywords with a few words added to the end? Thin these out dude!
Try adding some links into your homepage content, link your keywords to your homepage but don't overdo it! Make sure you put full links into your posts, this can help you gain links if someone scrapes your site!
I noticed that most of your linking happened in may 2011? I would mix up your anchor text and start that again to be honest, were you buying blog post links once upon a time?
You could turn that site into a right little cash machine if you updated it and focused on long term funds are than a few bucks here and there
Hey I'd love some help. I've had my site for almost a year, and it's my first real site that I used some SEO services on so I didn't know what to do. I've played with xrumer and SB blasts, as well as some article based SEO. I was #2-4 for different key terms, and after panda I am on pages 3-100 for these terms. Any help is appreciated.
Dont know if it matters, but just in case I'll mention it. My niche is fairly targeted and I was only getting >20 visits per day and I made $xxx per month and that was fine. I havent earned anything since Panda.
Wow thanks so much for this - it's a real encouragement to hear this.
P.S. sending you one more PM, hope you don't mind.
I appreciate the time you put into replaying and going over my site!
EDIT - 5 star thread
I have a site that I built on a 8 y/o aged domain. It was only started about 6 months ago. It has over 200 posts on it and was getting 800-900 unique visitors a day prior to Panda 2.6. I'm now averaging just over 200 UVs a day.
The site was built to target super-low competition long-tail keywords. In fact, before Panda 2.6 I only built backlinks to two of my posts. The rest were ranking well on their own. I had 16 #1 positions for my long-tails. And yes, they had floated to the top on their own....no links. The site is just as white hat as it can possibly be.
After Panda 2.6 I bought a 20 pack link push package from Bass Tracker Boats to try and restore some of my traffic.
Usually when I build some EDU links to my websites that got slapped they return back to the SE's rankings.
Im curious as to what your methods are.
Shoot me a pm and ill take a look
Ill take a look, shoot a pm
the people just sending me URLs without posting in the thread will be ignored
1 and a half year old domain, was working on it from the past few months. Its a high comptn niche. I've taken some services from bhw and done manual backlinking as well.
I took 2 blogroll on high pr blogs, and this month due to some reasons I didn't continued the subscription and the blogroll links were removed, after that 3 of the kw for which the site was ranking in 30's and 20's went to nowhere.. I dnt knw if its panda or the blogroll shit. still sending you the url.
Thanks for your precious time
Try building edu backlinks to that baby and you will see your rankings pop up again.
I think what's happened in your case is that you took the Google content ride and hoped for the best?
I really would think about linking a little bit more than you're doing at the moment, most of your anchor text appears to be the same?
To get your spots back I would shrink the adsense to 1 or 2 per page, lose that adsense sidebar on the left, this should make Google think that you're an information site rather than a site built for adsense
Take a look at one of your articles:
Looks spammy doesn't it? For the moment use pictures instead of a 350x350 adsense block, remember to use alt tags to get some coverage from Google images
The quality of the content passes copyscape and written ok but the one the thing that will get you slapped all over the place is that menu bar!
Your menu bar goes like this: About (no content) | Contact | Privacy (Pinched Content) | Terms (Pinched Content)
I really would think about moving those pages to the footer of the page, then bring category's into the menu bar, this should give your visitors more focus on what the site is about - It took me a few minutes to get what the site actually is!! (also rewrite those duplicate pages)
Change the name of category/uncategorized/ to something else, I have noticed that Google hates "uncategorised" - If you think about it, autoblogs tend to use this so try and keep yourself separate
You have your author name as 'admin' | Again, this put you in the same category of autoblogs, low quality and rush jobs. If you don't want to use your real name then make one up
Because your content seems well written and unique I would starting using the rel="author" tags on all of your content, this will tell Google that you're proud of your work and willing to out your name to it, other than "admin" (remember you have to change your name first), you will be surprised on how effective this tag can be! (if people use it on stolen content then its game over normally)
Loads of your title tags are about 10 characters? Whats that about dude? Your homepage doesn't include your main keywords? I would sit down for a few hours and rewrite them all to be more relevant to your site. Remember you can have about 70 characters in the title tags so go crazy!!
I would look at your description tags as well, they are lame dude, fill those up and don't be lazy
A few other bullet points:
Submit your blog to a few decent rss sites
Use services like onlywire to bookmark your new(and old) posts if your on a tight linking budget, you can easily build 50 links for every post within 5 minutes
Variate your anchor text
Shoot a PM to BassTrackerBoats and ask him for the ping list and put the list in your wordpress settings
Write up some tips and guides about online degrees, maybe find a handful of people who have done one and interview them, then do an outreach to relevent blogs or site owners
This thread would be a great learning process....+5 rep for wannabie...whom I've seen helping out BHW (n me too) since I was a noob...
I hope it helps out a few people
It will....I'll keep it bumping
