    Hello fellow BHW members,

My name is Ryan and I am 19 years old. I am active on BHW for many years on several accounts doing almost everything. from CPA to SEO, i've tried it all.

My biggest success was a social network I've created on my own where users could create posts and earn money per view. I have had the website for 2-3 months and decided to sell it as I did not see a future in it. In those 2-3 months (2,3 million pageviews) I passively earned 70-80 EUR per day.

The reason why I did not see a future in it was because a large percent of my userbase was from third world countries and my CPC was VERY low.

As a lurker on BHW, I have learned many things that is earning me money at this moment and I thank you for that. I would like to give back to the community and decided to actively post and answer questions on the forum and eventually donate.

    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Ryan

Can you give an estimate of how much that website sold for like 4 or 5 figures. And, what happened thereafter ? Is the new owner still using the same techniques for monetisation ?

I sold the website for 6,5K dollars. I ofcourse did not tell him about the problems he would have but I think he knew since he could check every statistic on Google Analytics. The problem was also that the website was not about a specific niche and people wrote about anything. However I and he noticed that alot of people wrote about travelling. The website is now a travelblog where people can guestpost and earn a small percentage. He is still using the same monetisation technique (Adsense and CPA).

I am glad I sold it, I invested a lot of time in server maintainance (alot of problems) and moderating articles (even with 2 extra mods).

Did you use some script to calculate the earning share of visitors making the posts ?

I tried to motivate people to write quality content with extra bonuses and ranks. The lowest starter rank would earn 0,001 Dollars per view and a regular post would get 40-80 views. If it was well written and the topic was interesting the article would easily get 1K-2K views within a week. If it was featured on the website (I give this sometimes as a bonus or if it was really good) they would easily rack up 10k-20k views within a week.

The minimum for an article was 200 words.

I currently have a network of websites where I make money off. Niche-Specific blogs with Adsense and CPA, I make websites for businesses and do monthly SEO for it. I have had a succesful hoverboard selling webshop that I successfully launched with online and offline marketing but I currently stopped the activity. Too many warranty problems.

Sounds like you've been on an awesome journey so far. Thanks for getting involved and sharing.

I'm curious about what platform you were using for your social network, was it mobile friendly? Thanks.

I am really advanced in Wordpress and use it for all my projects. The website was heavily optimized to run fast since I had so many pageviews. It was mobile-friendly for reading articles, writing an article would be harder on mobile but possible.

In Belgium you have two major second-hand websites where you can list many different things such as services, stuff, etcetera. You have the ability to pay 7-14 EUR per week for listing your ad at the top for a week in your region. I did this for a month or two and gathered many requests. And from there it was from mouth to mouth advertising. I would always do an extra service and get a good connection with my client. They would refer me to their business partners.

I maybe will in the future. I currently started a side-project to start as many unique niche-specific blogs and rank them. I feel like ranking in Belgium en Netherlands is easier than when I was doing blogs worldwide. There are still alot of niches that do not have a decent blog or information website such as virtual reality glasses (I have one of the first blogs/price watcher website of it). And the affiliate percentages are good here! Biggest webshops have up to 15% commission on all products that are bought and the cookie stays for 150 days!

I currently have 3 decent niche-specific blogs that are already ranking quitte well after a week of 2.
