I finally decided that I've got so much from BHW that it's time to try to give back at least something. Joining Jr. Vip was kind of only thing I could make since I really don't have any methods or anything that useful to share, sorry! What I can share, is my IM story in short, which is actually somewhat interesting, definitely not over yet and reminds you that don't put all your eggs in one basket!

About 2,5 years ago I started my IM career buying $5 WSO about autoblogging continued with creating 2 crappy english language autoblogs. My keyword research and whole understanding about Internet marketing was really low at the moment and I did probably everything wrong. But I have always been interested in learning, smart enough and hard working; wasn't about to give up. Next thing I did was translate that WSO ebook to my own language, created how to make money online website and started selling that short translated version for about $30. I ranked that site quite easily since there's not that much searches/traffic/competition in my language terms, but regardless, I started making some (really small) money. That site still ranks third for it's terms!

Then I found payday loan niche, in my own language, not in english. Started pushing those sites up and started ranking. Adsense hit $35/day and I was really excited about SEO/IM in general, could see how I scale everything up and make 10 times that next year. I started working little bit more professionally and organized which continued for 6 months. 6 months I worked literally all the time, went out 4 times that time and I was living in freaking Pattaya, Thailand! That's how motivated I was. Lot of 12 hour+ days, reading forums and blogs, writing content (can't really buy at decent price in my language) which was really time consuming, creating own spinning databases, creating web 2.0's, building sites, creating designs, buying old domains and doing everything I could. Everything worked like a charm and after that 6 months I was at point where I hired 1 full time employee to help with the workload. I was making about $6000-$7000 at the moment and growing steadily every month.

Now with new staff (actually hired soon 2 more people) I could really scale up. Ranking in my language wasn't that hard if just work a lot, write a content a lot. Also I learned to burn sites early on and just ranked for few weeks for good terms after ranking drops. Had also big, authority sites with a lot of unique content and services. Soon we hit over $10k/month and finally last month before fall almost $20k. We all had 3 separate adsense accounts, my own (would be now over 2 year old), my companys (would be over 6 months) and one of my employees (would be over 1 year).

Then about 9 months ago I had my adsense account open and I refreshed the window. Suddenly that months (it was around 17. day) revenue disappeared. First thought it's just some kind of bug until I checked my email and saw that my account was closed because of "policy reasons" - thin content, or something like that. Fact is my websites had just got better all the time. Account balance from last month was over $8000 and current month over $4000, so google basically stole my $12k. Reconsideration request didn't do anything and I never got any "real" response from G. I studied my country's T&C really hard and find out that it was completely different than english version, and contract was made even between different company (G Ireland). I read T&C over 10 times every word, but couldn't find a clause that says they can keep my money. They could close my account for whatever reason, but not keep my money. But lawyer would cost like $3000 just to send official letter to g, not talking about going to court (would have to pay advance payments for lawyer, even if winning would get those back - if losing would have to pay G's lawyer also).

Decided just let it go, we still had 2 accounts making good money. Everything was okay for about 4-5 months and we were again starting to make $15k+ and then it happened again. G decided to close two remaining accounts, again for policy reasons. This time we lost money together about $18k+. And that kind of was it :(

Unfortunately, in my country, there is NO other PPC networks. Simple as that. Many of our keywords we ranked before are worthless now since there's no CPA/Lead campaigns for those in my country. I had to fire my employees since I couldn't see any way I could revive my income streams in reasonable time. Actually changing to english language keywords have been surprisingly hard - it's whole different ballgame; but again, I'm not giving up!

Also, I have hired law firm and they sent official letter to G about this. Waiting for answer, if don't get answer or they say they're not paying, we considering really hard to take this to court. My lawyer can't find that part from T&C either, where it states that G can keep already realized revenue (work is done already when we have let G to show advertising on our website and visitors have clicked those ads and ended up to advertisers websites). Only problem with going to court is that it costs a lot of money and in case of losing the case, it would be last nail on the coffin, my company would not survive that.

Anyway, that's my story. Wouldn't have make it this far without you people at BHW <3

    TL;DR
    GOOD
Learned SEO from BHW and growth income of $20k/month

    BAD
Don't really make any money anymore

    UGLY
Google takes $30,000 without any (not automated) response

At this speed, soon there will be more J.Vips than Regular members on the forum. :D Having said that, regular members are equally important on a forum like BHW.

@Domainmadness Your story is interesting. I like the "Good", 'Bad' and 'Ugly' part. It'll help a lot of members over here. :D

Tbh, you should take those bustards (Google) to court instead of just letting it go. They are doing the same thing over and over again with many people. Most probably the millions of dollars they earn per day, a big chunk of it comes from people who worked hard to get 'em like you.

Great read and wishing you good luck with your future ventures.

    Wow.

Congrats on your success but a bit of a mad tale and I feel for your losses. Do you have any inclination whatsoever over what Google may be punishing you for?

(Also are you still in Thailand? :))

OMG F GOOGLE! If you DO take them to court, just know that you'll be doing it for millions of people, not just yourself. I hope Yahoo overtakes them.

Agreed 100%, I hope that my other businesses will bring enough money to take it to the court. I'll talk more about this with my lawyer after google refuse to pay/don't answer. Maybe if he really thinks that we will win this, I might even consider taking a loan for this.

Good contribution and a good moral story for lots of folks out there. Basically, the ugly part is not only about losing an amount of money but about how corporate world works, how you face stone walls if things go wrong for you. Businesses can get destroyed in hours. There's a gold saying around this community - don't put all your eggs in one basket.

My advice to you is don't let go, and don't be alone in this. There are a number of other companies, people who suffered the same. Get in touch, gather, be stronger!

Be careful, almost every lawyer who you're paying will tell you that you have a good case even if it's very thin. I've seen a few people spend a lot of money and lose while the lawyer makes out like a bandit when there really wasn't much there.

I got burned pretty bad by Google adsense as well after purchasing some revenue earning authority sites - good luck recovering and diversifying this time.

Yeah, take them to court buddy. You'll be broke and forced to pay your lawyer in blowjobs before you even see a court. If they said you violated their TOS, i'm pretty sure it's stated they don't have to pay you.

You are wrong. Terms for my country there was not stated that. After they closed my account, they have updated T&C for my country, and now there is stated that they can keep the money, before, no. I have old T&C printed and on hard drive. And I only agreed the old TOS, new TOS came later. Also, in my country, legal system is so different than for example in US, that it will not take that much money before it's in court. And in old TOS it says that my country law/court will be used if there's any disagreement. So I really have a case here, wouldn't even consider if I felt even a little bit that I don't.

I would take what I learned from this past 2 years and make english sites so you can monetize your traffic in many different ways.

This has happened to me and I'm diversifying as we speak.

Hope you can bounce back soon.

    Cheers.

I didn't read the complete but here are some suggestions for you. If you want to be in long term game. You said you ranked payday loans similar keyword in your language.

Setup aweber, getresponse or any custom email collector, collect leads and try to make big list. Engage your audience with useful knowledge and later sell them some offer or you can sell leads to the company. The more big list you make the more money you make.

    Best of luck for future.

Google's a tough cookie mate. You said it best "Never put all your egg in a single basket" that way when google burns you (and trust they will one way or another) you can recover, revamp and move forward. Congrats though and keep up the good work.

I am very sorry about your loss. You are successful small business person who helped deliver what Google wanted, clicks on its advertiser's ads and you appear to have been treated very shabbily by Google.

In terms of your legal issues, may I suggest you consider the following: You don't generally have trials about the meaning of contracts, these are questions of law and in the United States they are generally settled by legal motions called summary judgments. You build your facts for summary judgment through the discovery process, admissions, replies to interrogatories (questions) and documents that are produced. But this cuts both ways.

Google gets to conduct discovery about your case too. Do your country's TOS have anything about multiple Google Adsense accounts? If there is anything, you can expect Google to argue that your breach of the contract came first by having more than one account.

Another angle that may be available to you is the class action approach. You claim for $30K is tiny from Google's perspective, but if you can sue Google on behalf of all the people that that have had their accounts closed by Google for the reason that they closed yours, that case looks a lot bigger and you can potentially make a lot if you are the lead plaintiff. There are many big settlements like this in the United States.

Perhaps none of what I write applies to your country. So I will just wish you all the best in your fight with Google, and thank you for sharing your story. It is a good reminder not to rely on a single revenue source.
