Looks like you're targeting the wrong type of traffic.
Are you targeting buyer keywords?
If I had to guess, I'd say your audience were younger individuals (maybe teens) who don't even have credit cards to buy stuff online (do you know your audience?). It's not normal to have such a low conversion rate on Amazon if you're targeting buyer traffic and buying keywords.

Hey mate, who wants to buy comic book when they can find it free online? Sell some physical stuff that people need and you'll start seeing some $$.. Or sell something related to your niche.. If let say your tumblr is about "Dragon Ball", sell some action figurine/ limited edition stuff related to the Dragon Ball. Or maybe some key chain, or anime costume or whatever.. be creative buddy. 
And check your demographic as well.. If your visitors are mainly kids who age below 18, high chance they won't buy it.. Try some CPA on email submit instead XD - free iphone or whatever..

Pictures are not keywords, they cannot become keywords.
No idea to monetize these traffic.

No no no I didn't rude, I thank you for your offer.
But tumblr is no buyer keyword base like buy comic book.
You will vomit for being accepted from AdSense, I tried it for almost 1 & 1/2 month continue sending the application.
Wait and submit, and change the template, add more articles, sending traffic, they just don't accept.
