Since Russia does not extradition treaty with the United States,it seems like a good citizenship to have.

I was reading this about getting Russian citizenship on wikipedia

Does anyone know of a good way you can get a waiver for the 5 year period?

As someone who became a naturalized US citizen about 10 years ago, having being born in Russia, I find it funny that people are actually trying to become Russian citizens now :)

The world has totally changed since then and more so over the past 20-25 years. Who would have thought back in 1987 that one day one could go to Moscow for a Millionaires convention.

Social-engineer the officials (?) But like I said I was wondering what ways the 5 years could be waived. Its was done for an American WNBA to play for Russia in the 2008 summer Olympics. It caused a big commotion here in the U.S.,but what person wouldn't get another citizenship if there was a chance of getting $250,000 bonus for doing so. That's how much she would get if the team won gold.

One very important Russian word you must learn if you want to live in Russia is "взятка" - this solves 99% of problems there. :D

You're somewhat young and naieve. I suggest you start with a holiday in Moscow (personally I don't like the place much), then perhaps some backpacking around Russia. There's a LOT more to consider about relocating to a country than their extradition treaties. Also bear in mind that Russia does in fact prosecute their own citizens internally, right? And also if your goal is to be able to avoid prosecution because you know you're going to do bad things and know you'll eventually be found out & indicted, that to avoid extradition you'd pretty much have to stay in Russia permanently? Otherwise as soon as you step foot into almost any other country, for a holiday or whatever, an international red notice will ensure you're asked to step aside for a chat and... you just wasted all that effort. Moscow is a long, long way from New Orleans.

I should have made it more clear,I'm not looking to break laws and not be able to be extradited. I'm looking to be outside of the jurisdiction of the U.S. government,so I would not be violating those laws, and I'm just really looking for the info right now,not actually planning on choosing Russia, since Its really more complicated like you said.

Bit more complex than that. Firstly believe it or not, all these exotic destinations have local laws, too. Also if you commit a crime that hurts a US citizen, despite your location and citizenship, all the US LE guys have to do is write up a US indictment, then get you as soon as you step foot somewhere they CAN extradite you from. I think you are wasting your energy with a bit of a pipedream here, sonny.

It's not a big deal buddy. You can get two birds with one stone.
Want to know how? Through marriage :)
That's how you can get Russian citizenship in 3-year period and find yourself beautiful, good looking and family oriented young russian woman who will treat you like a king for your american bucks.

There's also some Middle Eastern, African, and South American countries that have no-extradition treaties with the U.S.

If you wanted a little warmer climate than Russia :D
