Hi has anyone tried this? go to forums, answer a lot of questions, dont look like a spammer. then a few days later, answer a question that is on a high PR page (this will probably be a very old question) with link in signature. is this worth it? or you will get banned most of the time?
Yea It works to draw traffic. I don't even mention the signature I act like it's not there and just answer questions and watch my analytics go up.
what is the least painful way of doing this? create accounts with xrumer, then answer questions manually? I dont want traffic from these sites, i am mostly concerned with serps.
Ah, this takes me back. When I used to do manual SEO, this was 1 of my favourite tricks. I would find high PR forums, then do a google index search, the top 100 results tend to show the pages (if any) that had PR. Then comment on the thread, even if its 2 years old and even if you have to spend 5 mins researching for an answer or even sit and think of a serious follow up question / reason for bumping a 2 year old thread. I would do this a few times on each forum. then wait for a month. Let the dust settle and the old threads to get buried again. Then add my sig link and nobody would be any the wiser. You can still do this today, but im not down with manual SEO. Especially when looking after 200+ websites.
I've seen people doing Meathead123's method with google alerts and using their signature when posting in forums to drive traffic. And of course with some PR these sigs get you good SEO
I see no reason for you to get banned. As long as it is not a spam post why would the ban you ? Yeah, it works perfect. No problem there.
Now I know why sometimes on my forum I get spammy looking but researched posts, with no link - cos they're going to come back 3 months later and add a link
when you add your signature, doesnt it only get attached to new posts? or it will also attach to posts that you made in the past?
Yes, outsource it. In all honesty, if you are looking to get bored and kill your dream of hot bunnies and pina coladas on the beach. Do manual SEO. Your time is far too precious to waste on tedious tasks. What GST did was take the words virtually out of my mouth.
When you first create your forum account, add a signiture, just a line of text like : "The weather in my country sucks" Then when you revisit, you can edit it and your link will be live on the high PR pages you originally commented. Its worth noting that Google busted this method a few years back and they added things into their algo to catch thread jacking for PR.
The profile is updated so i think that it will send out a message to all of your posts to include the signature.
So that means that today this doesn't work anymore ... Imagen if you could do that when creating backlinks! First add a name with no link on a high PR page and then come back after and change that!
Im not saying the method does not work. Im just saying that Google are well aware of this tactic and they can easily tell if a post has been bumped for PR purposes. That said, there are always bing, yahoo & ask that would likely be able to be gamed using this.
