This lady in dallas did this, She literally went from rags to riches within one year! Heres how she did it.

She started with $100 and would go to thrift stores, find great buys, then sell them on ebay for double, triple, and even more in profit. Once she sold all of the items she kept the profit and would buy $100 worth more stuff. Within 1 year she was a millionaire. She was even interviewed on several news stations for this technique. I have never tried this method, but I have to admit, it is tempting. Hope someone finds this post useful :D

It all depends on what your selling and the demand for that item, plus the mass of ebay fees you have to pay these days dosent make it worth while for me. Good luck if you are going to try this.
 
LOL That's a lot of "buy $100 more" trips to the thrift store.
She would have had to profit about $2740 every day for that year to make a million.

Im sure as time went on, she purchased more at a time, but she gained alot of publicity for it.
 
my little brother when he was 12 (now 16) bought a swiss watch cheap on ebay for $80. he cleaned it up and changed the battery and sold it back on ebay for $300. he learned from me about selling and refurbishing watches. since then, that original $300 has turned into several, several thousands of dollars worth of stuff for him. he kept reinvesting the profit into more watches. he has high end watches for himself, 2 atv's, dirt bike, several nitro trucks, big tv in his room, and all kinds of shit that kids can only dream of. he bought his girlfriend this watch with 2 carats worth of diamonds and other jewelry for her birthday. that one transaction years ago turned him into a pimp baller. now he is looking to liquidate all of that to buy a car. so its possible, but i highly doubt a million in one year. maybe over the course of several years.

This was a very long time ago (atleast 3 years) ofcourse i dont have a news link to back it up. I was just thinking about it last night and decided to share. Im sure if you google it enough you will probally find it somewhere.

IT may not be wise to by a car after doing all that
A car my depreciate in value quickly
 
you have to know what you are looking for at thrift stores or church stores.
 
Better chance of making a million at the lottery than eBay. Those days of making eBay money are long gone unless you like to scam and you're very good at making fake accounts at eBay and PayPal. Too much work even if you're good IMO.
 
Not to mention, things are cheaper on eBay than thrift stores. In fact, many brick and mortar stores are buying their items on eBay and selling them to local people for profit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a yardsale and auction junkie. I find things all the time selling for a $1 but then I sell on eBay for $60 or so. I've actually tested it out, if you start off with a $500 investment, you can have a $2000/mo profit business within 2 months that can even sustain winter months. It takes a lot of time though, and probably took me at least 3 years to look at a huge pile of shit to figure out what is going to make my time and effort worth while.

I'm not as familiar with Ebay as I probably should be, but I imagine a lot has changed since 3 years ago that may make achieving this more difficult.

Sadly, the days are gone where you can mae big money like this.

Back when I was in highschool I would buy gaming consoles from a number of tech forums and clean them up and sell them on eBay at a big markup.

Big business infiltrating ebay means margins have gone down, and quite often you can buy "junk" cheaper on ebay than you can at a yard sale.
