My title says it all, "Be Careful while Selling Forum Accounts" because there are certain people who are always waiting for an opportunity to scam us. If you are selling a forum account to someone, then please ask the buyer to pay in advance and once the amount hits in your PayPal, then and only then hand over your log in details. Though you can compromise if you're dealing with a highly reputed member but please do check his recent activity and ensure that he's not involved in a scam. This will help you to a great extent in avoiding scams in such transactions. If you're dealing with a newbie but avoiding to take an upfront payment, then you're at fault. No matter what the guy says, you should not change your stance and move ahead with the deal only when you get paid.

Few excellent pointers mentioned by Zen19 on this thread:

I would be glad if Blackhatters could share their experiences and inputs on this topic.

    Cheers :)

Yeah, common sense is to be applied... Did you get scammed recently or what?

Yes. Apparently, my common sense had gone for grazing grass. Next time around, I will store the fodder inside my brain so that common sense prevails and I take a rational decision.

    Cheers :)

I agree to take full upfront payment is the best idea if you are dealing with a newbie. Also, if its an established member and you already have got a little rep on the forum and can prove that the account is yours, it would be still better to take full upfront payment since you have already proven your ownership of the account.

I think, you even have to consider your name being ruined. IMO, payment is secondary unless you have a good reputation. I'm a guy who doesn't believe in selling any account, cos I work hard to gain reputation and max of the times think negative of the buyer, no matter how reputed he's, he can easily destroy my hard earned good name.

I concur. But, if I don't think an old warrior account which I haven't used since past few months would be of any use to me. Moreover, if the username is different, then one doesn't need to bother much. We must always ask for upfront payment in such transactions.
