Good evening everyone! I'm going to probably be bulleting a lot because I find bullet points easier to read.

    A bit about me:

    • I'm 22 years old, have my bachelor's degree, and am currently a medical student here in the US.
    • I own a small freelance video editing service.
    • I work a lot from fiverr and average about 1-3 orders per day (avg. gigsale- ~$17).
    • I still live with my family, have a girlfriend, and I exercise 4-6 times per week for at least 1 hour.
It's funny because just last week when I was filing my taxes for my online sales, my tax person (sorry, what do you call these people?) asked me if I was studying to be a videographer. I told him no, I'm actually studying to become a doctor in phyiscal therapy (PT). He said I was probably the most diverse person he's ever met in the past year when I began to tell him more about what I like to do.

    So why the YouTube journey?:

    • Although I love what I do- editing videos- I want passivity, I want to be able to study while still making money. Don't get me wrong, I'm very passionate about what I study as well; thus, I have two passions. Doing video editing work on the go/while in school is also a major plus, but passivity is a major reason.
    • My goal long-term goal is to pay off at least 50% of my total school loans while I'm in school. Med school here in the US is darn expensive. A lot of individuals know that school loans will leave you in debt for years even after you graduate, if they really "know" that, then why are they fine with that and not doing something about it now? I am not blind to that occurrence and I refuse to be enslaved to debt for the rest of my life. Some of my classmates will be in debt over 200k by the time they graduate (my debt will be about 80k since I'm in-state), and they're completely fine with that. 200k debt is basically a financial imprisonment.
    • Time management. My hope is that I will inspire and motivate myself to be a wizard at time management. I'm always looking to be productive with my time whether it be exercising, working online, studying, spending time with my girlfriend, or having dinner around the table with my family. I hope that even with the multiple hemispheres in my life, I will still be able to make a passive $10/day on YouTube with AdSense.
Everything will be Whitehat, and I'm starting completely from scratch.

    Day 1:
    • Choose a niche.
    • Get approved for adsense.
    • Get logo and facebook and YouTube covers made.
    • Register website name same as channel just in case

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

If you want to become a master of time blocking, I would look into time blocking. Once I started, my life changed.

    Day 2:
    • I love the suggestion that TheFreshPrince gave me. I even installed an app related to time blocking.
    • I was able to finally choose a niche after much thought and am SUPER excited for it. For anyone needing help choosing a niche, the way I did this is by 1) making sure the niche is evergreen 2) the niche has an unlimited source of content 3) the niche is meaningful 4) The niche is sharable 5) I can easily make videos for this niche while in school and in under 30 minutes 6) I would enjoy making content for this niche
    • I went ahead and ordered logo/graphic designs for my channel and site.
    • I have connected my adsense with my youtube channel.
I was able to have lunch with my family and complete 3 fiverr orders online and am about to go gym with my girlfriend. I'm feeling super productive in terms of online work and life commitments. Being productive is great

    Day 8:
It's been a while since the update, but here's what I have been doing so far.
    • I've been able to find freelancers for what seems to be the most tedious part of making videos: the research & then I make the videos myself.
    • I have 2 videos uploaded already, and 3 scheduled for the next 3 days. The first video has 30 views, and the second video has 10 views.
    • I've learned that as soon as a video uploads, I should like it and then watch it so it has a 100% view rate. I plan to do this with the video that uploads today.
Any suggestions on how to get my channel running with the first set of subscribers or views would be greatly appreciated:).

    Here's a few tips:
Find other videos in the same niche, and build a master playlist, doesn't matter if it's already been done before because you will do something they haven't done - promoting the channel. After you add a video to your playlist, comment in the comment's section how you enjoyed the video, really pull out something unique and specific on the video so it's not spam. Then tell them you enjoyed it so much you added it to your "ultimate/definitive/how-to guide" of niche playlist {place url to playlist]. That's it, go to every video and do that, soon you will have enough easy internal links built up AND you will be funneling traffic back to your playlist.

Also be sure the description of the playlist isn't spammy, don't put any links etc - just do this out of the passion for it. AFTER it's ranked or outranked everyone THEN go in and place a link in the playlist description.

If you have something to sell, make a short video and place it in the playlist, you will get natural watches steadily and helps if it's niche related.

I did this with a nice "earthy" niche and I have the top playlist on Youtube, didn't even have to comment on all the videos too!

Very interesting, so if I understand correctly, basically make a playlist within my niche, add a few or ONE of MY videos in there, then go out and add other people's videos in there as well. Then go on each of those videos and comment that I added it to a playlist that I made with a link to it.

Just dont look spammy, add value by complimenting something specific aka the reason why you added it and add your video last to the collection so it looks less spammy imo, but rearrange so it is first on the playlist - I usually have it set to display by popular then manual order after it ranks.
