ok so i believe i am banned my askimet so no more posting on WP blogs for this site, my question is if i purchase another domain name and then redirect it to this page that is banned will akismet pick up on that and ban the new site??

will the backlinks to the new site show up in yahoo site explorer for the other "banned" website???

    I don't think akismet could pick-up a redirect.

Further, think about getting links from sources other than wordpress. It's a poor source of link as it;s often moderated or nofollow. Search this forum for backlink tips and guides. You will not regret it.

i have many ways to get backlinks but this is one of them

    i currently use these methods
    -directory submission
    -article submission
    -bookmarking
    -xrumer profile blasts
    -blog commenting

and next i will be moving into web 2.0 properties and linkwheels

any other ideas i would love to hear them?

but i wanted to know if the links will go right through the redirect to my old domain name or do the links stay on the new domain name?

The biggest problem with the akismet ban is the banning for your private proxies. Getting new ips weekly is just not practical. No sure how to get around this.

i've always wondered this as well. What good would it do if you build links through comments but not to your main site? you wouldn't get the link power if you built the links to a site that redirects to your main site right?

You can 301 redirect the authority and ranking of any page. if you have 2 domains and 1 is redirecting to the other, backlinks to both urls would benefit one site jointly.

Yup i have read that 301 redirects would be the way to go. a simple metarefresh is not enough.

i got banned also. how should comments be done to avoid banning? I like to put the url not in the comment but as part of the name. But that is not how i started off commenting. So that could be the problem. I wonder if I used a better name instead of anchor text as a name would prevent banning a bit?
