I am just curious. I seem to notice that in the last 30 days there is more then normal amount of people that show up as banned in different posts. The only reason it stands out is because some of these people have anywhere from 150 - 700 posts. Was there some big crackdown happening cause I did not see anything obvious in the posts themselves.

Shhhhh, it's best not to ask questions, they don't like it when you ask questions;)

You can talk to me if you'd like, PM or IRC is fine. I may not give you the reason why a particular member is banned, but I can shed some light on your concerns.

I don't think that they will answer it, since it may not be anyone's business.

I have got to stop opening tabs like that. By the time I reply someone else already has.

If they were banned there is usually a good reason. I am a mod at IGN and its not easy.

That's cool. It was not that important. I just wanted to make sure that one I did not make the same mistake, and 2 that all the people let go recently were not scamming or hurting individuals here. Then again I have not had business with the people let go so no worrys. I am sure it comes down to people not following the rules basically.

Most of them are temporary "don't do it again" bans which I think is fair. Everyone screws up once in a while.

Without going into great detail, a lot happens here that members don't always see.

We've had a couple negative surprises lately involving high ranking members, plenty of PM spam, BST thread hijacks and just general nonsense from others.

If you follow the rules and use common sense, your completely in the clear. People that are banned here are blatantly disregarding the rules and are caught red handed doing something bad.

I can assure you that the people that get banned really need to be, and we have a solid reason for doing it.

lol, I do that all the time too.....Damn firefox tabs. ;)

With respect to what you mentioned about some of the people getting banned being members with high post count, i will say it is highly possible for old timers and reputable members (of course this applies to even new members) to begin to feel a a bit like Nico :D

So the hammer is a constant reminder that their must be order within the ranks.

I was temp banned recently for a double thread. My connection went dodge and posted a thread twice and by time I knew what happened bang I was gone. I didnt mind really it was like a holiday from blackhat world lol

Yeah, maybe we all need one once in a while, to actually spend more time making money and less time replying to posts like this.:yield:

I have confidence in the mods that they have better things to do with their lives than kick off loyal users. I mean after all, this forum lives off of its community.

Most of us here had a terrible experience at DP , where people are banned generally for some very illogical reasons. I being a true BHW fan, really want to serve and be served by the BHW community, obviously abiding by the laws!

Did i sound like taking a pledge before the judge ? :p lol :D

The moral of the story is that if you are banned from BHW, its quite definite that you tried to play with some of the very basic laws. So be fair....I am sure we all are gonna be benefitted by this community in the days to come. Specially with recession fears hanging around :p , blackhat can save us from the upcoming miseries, if so :D

It great to see all the mods are on top of things... But if a member is banned for being a scammer or anything like that, would mods and admins inform the rest of the forum? I believe a lot of us would like to know, if a member was banned for that reason and not the standard PM spam, BST thread hijacks and just general nonsense. It's always good to have the headsup on scammers if you know what i mean...

I got banned on DP with my FIRST POST! I'm wondering if it was a record or something? I joined because a friend of mine was a member there and had been banned because one of the "higher ups" there blatantly stole an ebook from him and rewrote it and he called her on it. I just posted that it was wrong for her to do and they insisted that I was HIM and so my ban was for duplicate profiles...lol. I guess they are too stupid to check IP's. We don't even live in the same state! At least around here I'm pretty sure that they ban people for REAL reasons...

yeh you gotta be carefull on dp. even if you fart too loud you get a ban..

The gentlemen on the Admin & Mod team work pretty damned hard to keep things cleaned up around here so members don't get taken.

There will always be those that slip through the cracks for awhile, or others who will earn a good reputation and build trust ... just prior to pulling some scammage. In my opinion the Admins & Mods go above & beyond keeping on top of it all; it can't be easy.

Addendum: I don't think Admins owe an explanation for their actions when cleaning up the slime, although they quite often provide them, as a courtesy to the rest of us.

this stresses the importance of following the forum rules.

but for the newbies that don't understand why the mods are so strict with the forum, you probably weren't here for the database crashes and the hacks from trouble makers

Or when there was a single Moderator of the forum and he screwed Dave and scammed quite a few members here.

For a forum of any kind, I believe this one is run extremely well now with numerous, behind-the-scenes safeguards to help prevent members like us from getting screwed.
