I ask because I have two geographical keyword rich domains in same niche that are just sitting there but do get traffic, both for each city. I am redirecting the two geo based domains to their city pages on my master site.

I did this a month ago and my rankings have sorta fallen, but not for these keywords. Should I remove these permanent redirects? I wonder if that's why is affecting my rankings. 95% of my backlinks are niche oriented.

Example: newyorktrumpvoters.com to my moneysite: (domain.com/new-york-trump-voters)

Make sure your canonical URLs are set because pointing domains can trick google into thinking there are multiple sites with the exact same content. Your 404 URLs may have exploded to if there are any URLs not being handled by the new site. Both wont rank in search results but what you are doing should be fine. Just look out for the duplicate content. You also increase your bot traffic each time you point a domain at your website... that could slow your website down and impact your rankings... If the domain was penalized by google in the past you could be hurting yourself by pointing it at your website. Check wayback machine and see how it was used.

Odds are you just need to do nothing and let give Google time to recrawl the web and recalculate everything... It actually can take quite a bit of time for google to do this despite all the claims that people think it happens in a day or two... It can take up to 22 days for google to process a change on 1 page... To process a whole site and other sites that link to a site... It can take a couple months depending on when in Google's cycle your changes occurred with respect to all of the sites and pages in play.

I'd wait a little longer before making more changes.
