    Hey guys,

I haven't done SEO in a good minute but I found something interesting today in Google. I have had my Gmail account since beta and do like 500 searches a day so when things come out (like new Gmail interfaces and stuff) I'm usually the first of my friends to get it. Maybe you guys have seen this before maybe not but it doesn't look good for some of you. Of course the ones making high quality sites can actually benefit from it.

    Anyways, here it is:

Woah thats pretty interesting. I wonder if its a slow rollout for that that or if that is for only a certain number of people. I haven't seen it.

This is nothing new, and Google tried this in the past and they ended up canceling the project:

[SEE ARTICLE - Google Search Wiki] http://support.google.com/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=115764

If they are indeed planning to do this on mass scale in Gmail, how long do you think it will be before guys like me have our programming team automate the voting process on a mass scale with 10s of thousands of Gmails. Ultimately it will be abused by SEOs and most likely be another canceled / failed project.

I am glad that they cancelled, would the average user like to vote on search results?

It's a similar idea to SearchWiki but it's not the same thing. This only allowed me to vote on the top 2 websites.

Also, I can't replicate it even when I search for that keyword again. So far it only came up that one time.

I'm not concerned with people logged into their gmail accounts while they do search, there just ins't enough of them which is why google will try new things out with these users before bringing it out to the masses.
