I am looking to find a wireless card that will work on the Linux distro of Backtrack 4.

I need something cheap, but that has great range, and nice potential for speed.

Let me know if you have any experience with this and can help out.

Thanks,

I used to use backtrack3 with a Hawking Hi-Gain USB Wireless adapter. It was about $50 bucks and since it is a dish you can point it in the direction of a network. It has great line of site signal strength. I would assume that the driver was included in v4.

WEIRD. That is the exact model I am looking at now.

Also, I live in a 9 story apartment building, I am assuming getting an ISP is sort of useless? :D

When I moved in to my new apt there was one open wifi connection and it had no bars. with the hawking it boosted the signal to almost full strength when pointed directly at the network. It got me through until i got fios installed. Its also great for war driving ;-)

Hahaha! I'm sitting here wondering what "Backtrack" is?!

I thought I was familiar with all the major distros.. Apparently I need to go look. ;P

It almost sounds like an SEO oriented release! ;)

It's a release with all the programs you would ever need pretty much.

Backtrack is a great distro if you are into network security and penetration testing.

This is the one you used, correct?

And how was the speed through the connections?

That looks like a newer version then the one that I was using.

Well if newegg wasn't being a bitch, I would have it ordered by now.
Says I need a "confirmed" address on PayPal even though I get shit shipped here all the time.

Haa
