    Hi everyone

I've booked a 'domain' and permanently redirected it to another domains 'subdomain'.

The domain is redirected without having any content on its main page. The keywords for both these pages are same.

Will backlinks to this 'domain' help in ranking the 'subdomain' for the same keywoard?

Yes, if you build links to "domain", then the link juice will be passed to your subdomain.

Yepp! This is essentially just a 301 redirect strategy which is in fact a very common and powerful SEO tactic.

FYI: The domain should pass around 70-80% of its link juice via the 301 to the sub-domain

But what if the 'domain' is penalized by Google. Will it pass the penalty to the 'Subdomain'?

Yes, it does passes penality as well. Sometimes in few days and sometime it may be weeks before subdomain gets penalized.

My plan is to get backlinks from low quality web directories, bookmarking sites and article sites using spun content with different anchor text.

Absolutely definitely - it will help :) Usually a 301 redirect will rank it's target site higher than the redirected site ever ranked...

Of course, rank, backlinks and traffic transfer to the sub domain as soon as you redirect it.

Thank you for your valuable comments.

But what if the subdomain gets penalized from google via the 301 redirected domain. Will it pass the penalty to the subdomain's 'Domain'?
