    Hey BHW,

Lately I have been reading about backlinks and tools such as GSA SER/ SB and others, but I got a question regardin bit.ly or shorturls.

Is it the same to have your url displayed as yourdomain.com as having yourdomain.com on a bit.ly/shorturl?

Does it work the same? Or does G and other SEs treat them both links different?

    What do you think?

I heard Matt Cutts say in a GoogleWebmasterHelp YT video that link shorteners lose a bit of link juice.
Don't quote me on this - you may want to look up the video yourself - but I think the amount of link juice lost is approximately equal to what a 301 redirect does.

Man Im fuckt up but ill give it a try to explain.. :)
you can sort of refer to bitly as a url SHORTENER(ofc).. They will not display or index your site as a bit.ly site. They work just like any url shortener and just re-direct that url to your fully one. E.g mysite.com/?ARealFreakingLongUrl.. To bit.ly/jeudu and will just help you to reduce the char length of your url.. :)

Linking directly to your website is better.

I know, but linking to a bit.ly link could replace linking to your site in any way?!
