Are they any useful ? I can see a lot of webmasters trying to game reddit for traffic/BLs.

I'm very curious. Also, the community backlast is a real thing. Ask anybody who runs Quickmeme!

Imho reddit can be quite useful if you really have something to add to the community. Then, several thousand visitors per day are possible.

Nevertheless, the backlinks are of limited value. They are n0-f0llow and will appear (after they are in a certain category live) just in your profile.

So from the perspective of a search engine there is a page on a social network site with a lot of links to a certain site. This does contain some value but not much imho.

Great for traffic, okay for backlinks. If you contribute some OC that is share-worthy you might find that you naturally acquire some backlinks via your submission.

Yeah, as other members suggested above if you think you have a great product or service which the people there would love, try participating in the community and sharing your product but if you're doing it just for the link juice, that might not be the best idea since all the backlinks would be nofollow.

Backlinks wise, ditto they are nofollow, but I'm sure they help to build some type of authority to your website.
