When I post on the homepage of my blog, I can click on the title of the post and it goes to another URL which is unique for the post, including title.

Now as it was not created as a page in wordpress, will backlinking to the post page still be effective?

Probably a stupid question but I read in an ebook from the download section that you should create a new page for each keyword - but if the post is getting it's own page anyway then why should I bother!

No you are right you can still backlink to your post. Just a pointer is to make sure that your permalinks are set up so that you have your keyword in the URL.

Thank you, yes I have setup the permalinks to display the post title rather than www.myblog.com/p=1

Don't get confused unless set up all content on your blog is a post. Your home page the root of your site http:www.xxx.yyy.zzz/ is a collection of your posts the number determined by a setting.

Each post has a unique url http://www.yyy.zzz/post1/ etc even the ones being shown on your homepage.

People often use post / page as meaning the same thing except if you're using WP pages and posts are different.

Clicking on any post title takes you to the post and as you've stated each post can be optimized for any keyword you choose.

Yeah It can be done and I personally use posts like "micro-niche" websites so I backlink with different anchor texts for each posts

I think it is also called as deep linking. Deep linking is a very broad term which includes other buffer sites, web 2.0 props as well as your own money site pages for backlinking to them rather than just the main URL.

Putting a tag ensures indexing a separate page in the search engine. I maybe wrong but this is what I am looking at in my sites.

With 5 posts and a lot of tags, I can already see 150 pages indexed, each page pointing to a tag or secondary keyword. :)

    Hope this helps.
