Backlinking question regarding basic forum profiles

Ok, so there is a theory out there that says you create a profile on a forum and then create a signature in your profile that can be considered as a backlink. Then you do nothing else. No forum posting, no nothing. Just create the profile, then the sig.

Apparently, the people who flog this method say it works. Here is the thread:

Sorry mods if this violates TOS. I am not affiliated, but am very interested in the technique they describe, which based on my testing is less than positive to say the least.

I took a few of their available PDF's here on BHW (currently only availble to Jr. VIP) and ran them about a month ago in perfect formation. Sign up, enter your anchor text and backlink. A month later, I decided to log into the profiles I created and to my surprise, when I checked the cached snapshots in my handy google toolbar, NOTHING WAS CACHED!!!??!

This is very alarming to me. I also recently checked my BHW usercp, and found that nothing is cached either.

So here is my question. Sorry if this is complicated, but, really, I think it is.

If you read the WF thread stating about how many people are ranking high, then test it and find that none of the profiles you create on forums or whatever site that allows a profile which contains a backlink, AND NONE OF THEM ARE CACHED, does that QUALIFY as a backlink?

(note: I would ask this same question to the WF BST OP, but I have a post count of ZERO there, so I ask here, where I know people are much smarter)

None of the profiles you create will give you a backlink Google can't login to your profile.

If you using angelas and pauls, another guys too, yes they give backlinks. I have a automated software that does most of the work for you

you can often leave your link in your profile. a place where you can mention your website, so people who visit your profile can see what website you own or like.

as long as your profile is public, the link counts as a valid link.

for it to count as a link in the sig field, you have to make a post.

Makes perfect sense to me.. I would think the only way google will see your profile without a post is if it shows up in the current active users list, which it most likely won't be since you are just creating a profile and ditching it.

what software are you using for this if you dont mind sharing. I know xrumer does this also. Who are angela and paul, do they have an ebook available on this subject

Bookmarking your public forum profiles would help too. I see the "buy viagra" boys doing it. I would love to learn more about this.

This is a very interesting topic, I currently need around 270 backlinks just to get ontop the first page for my niche..This is going to be really tough.

Also wouldn't this be considered Black hat?

I'm using Angela's Backlinks to promote my site and I emailed her about this directly.

As others have said before, if you cannot view your profile page without logging into the forum, then there is no way for Google to access it and index it either.

When the forum script is installed it can be modified to allow everyone's profiles to be public and visible. It's rare that you'll find one of these though. That means you have to post at least one forum entry with your link in your signature.

Unfortunatley, the jacks up the time element because you have to interact intelligently...esp on the forums that have high PR. They have high PR because they are popular and well run (i.e. monitored) and your post and/or your signature will get ripped down fast if you have an automated tool publishing junk posts to get your link out there.

Fortunately, there are a lot of sites on Angela's lists that have public profiles that are accessable and have direct URLs. You don't have to post anything in any forum and the High PR of the site trickles down to the links on your profile page.

This method works. I was stuck around spot 50 for 4 and a half weeks. I bought 5 backissues of Angelas backlinks (December - April + May). I finished putting up December, Jan, and Feb yesterday. When I work up today, my site had jumped to spot 16!

(This is on a domain name that was registered in March...not aged)

I think I found a couple that needed you to post a few times BEFORE your sig link showed up. *sigh*

Still...how hard is it to outsource getting those links? The .pdf's give clear instructions on what to do. Send them off to India with some money..right?

As far as creating a relevant post on a forum, almost all forums I visited using her pdf's have an Introduce Yourself section, so it's really just as easy as finding a random noob and saying "welcome. I am new too." Add more blah if needed. I have done this for a lot of forums, and also for the non-forum sites, sometimes there are groups that you need to join. You don't need to post, just join the group.

I will go back in a few weeks to see if my postings and profiles are still alive.

I don't think so really. I would consider it more greyhat than anything simply because you are doing all the work manually unless you build a bot to do most of the grunt work.

guys you need to search the forum threads on Xrumer that will open up your eyes

I've searched many many times and am strongly considering it. It would sure beat the hell out of the manual labor of getting only 30 backlinks per month based on the PDFs. I think the difference here is that these links I feel are not going to get my site penalilzed, but xrumer made links have a much higher chance of doing so. Or maybe I am not understanding something about it.
