you could have a gem or a dud.
do your due diligence before buying aged domains.
check if its been burned, blacklisted, backlinks (good/bad), penalty, etc.
Drip feed high pr backliks with a good amount of web 2.0's and few authority links. You can then blast those web 2.0 and use them as buffer on your site.
Just because its old doesnt mean it gives you an excuse to be really aggressive. You can still get burned.
I would build a base set of links to it from quality properties, then power those links up (Link shield, pyramid, whatever you want to call it).
That is the way to go nowadays, dont build a ton of crappy links straight to your money site.
How do you know if an (aged) domain is under a penalty please? I really wonder.
Backlink it like any other site, however I agree in creating an authority site rather than a MNS.
Google loves authority sites, and so does everyone else. Creating an authority site is how you make the big bcuks. While its a long road, its well worth it in the long run.
