    Hey everyone,

So I have been watching this keyword for a while trying to rank. Pretty much the same sites are always listed on page one...until another ezine article(now doublelisting) is ranking number one without any substantial amount of backlinks according to site explorer. I asked this question on another forum and they said it could be some 301 redirects.

The page is a PR 6 with some crummy forum spam links showing up in site explorer.

    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A//ezinearticles.com/%3FReverse-Cell-Phone-Lookup-Services%26id%3D3200343&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=u

And there is something else I needed to know from you black hat seo experts if you don't mind.

It is for the same niche, but this guy is getting very similar backlinks to 2 different articles on different directories(ezine and goarticle)

I see a lot of .ru home page backlinks. Obviously he is buying links. His articles are not banned at all so I guess buying links for articles doesn't really hurt.

here are the two articles I am talking about.

    goarticle:

    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A//www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi%3FC%3D2286921&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=u

    ezine:
    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A//ezinearticles.com/%3FCell-Phone-Number-Search---How-to-Reverse-Lookup-a-Cell-Phone-Number%26id%3D1600633&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=u

The ezinearticle ranks well for a lot of terms and has over a million views. But 14 backlinks? WTF!!!

Where are these .ru link networks?

    Your help is really appreciated.

It's possible that he is using sending all of his links to a different domain that in turn 301 redirects to his article.

Doing this, he would still get all of the links but you wouldn't be able to find them in any backlink checking tools.

There actually may be something elegant here (very nasty blackhat but still very elegant).

I eyeballed several of the links listed by the yahoo search.

I guess he's doing the following:

    0) create tiny advertisements for your product that, naturally, contains the link to the product.

    1) buy small ads from google for your product. See what pages the ads appear on. Ping those pages so that they, with your google ads, get indexed;

    2) in a related form, find web sites with very low ad rates. Procede as above.

If so, it is a waycool discovery. You don't buy links (boo! hiss! unethical!) but advertisements (yah! hooray! smart business!)

Yep, plenty of people do it.

One of the sites ranking for "Wealthy Affiliate" uses this technique. (They might not be ranking there anymore)

    So, do you 301 mylongtailkeyword.com to mywebsite.com/mylongtailkeyword

    and build backlinks to mylongtailkeyword.com?

I have heard of buying high pr domains and 301'ing them to your domain. Basically, it gets you out of any sandbox issues if the 301'd domain was old and had some pr.

But, I am reading more and more that once you transfer registrars, the 301 effect is diluted because google can sense they are owned by a new person.

So, what is the BH way for 301ing without google knowing it's you. Or, does it even matter at all if they know it's from you.

You're saying he's ranking with Adsense links? That doesn't make any sense..

I'm pretty sure adwords ads don't count for backlinks. So, it looks like a powerful 301 method.

Still just five backlinks and a PR of 6. So, is 301'ing the holy grail of seo. He's been ranking that article number one and two for that phrase just 10 days after it was created. Other guys have thousands of backlinks, but not him. Obviously there's a big seo secret there and some that know it are hush hush.

    Thanks
