Hello

How do you utilize small network of domain but topic are totally different with site I'm currently building?

Friend of mine on discord own small network of blog , each domain are pretty deccent in term of metric but topic are way off topic ie. Oil rigs management while my site is about Lego collection

From my experience, link from totally unrelated topic are just simply wasting time and resources ..but seeing the metric I'm kinda tempted to put my link in his network

Hello,
You are right; in most cases, you need to place the link in the relevant content to your website.

correct

Oil rigs management while my site is about Lego collection
if you manage to find some common ground between legos and oil rigs (like, for example, using legos to build / patch oil rigs) you can post an article about this on his site and then the link would be relevant to both sites. The example I gave you is pretty silly, but I just wanted to make a point :)

So basically we need to create a hub , have you tried this? I mean does the links gave significant boost ?

Certainly not.

I mean it will not harm to have few links from unrelated niches, but as far as a boost is concerned, it will never give it!

The niches are way too different than each other, it will not help with something 'significant'.

So, do not go and build too many of such links yourself.

what hub?? You just need 2 articles that are extremely relevant to each other and centered around oil rigs and legos, and publish one article on your site and the other one on your friend's site about oil rigs, and link back to the article on your lego site. That's all you need to get the relevancy factor going

have you tried this?
not on sites that are as irrelevant as yours, but yes.

I had a site in the crafts & hobbies niche and some of the best links for that site have come from a museum site, and a wedding gifts one

I mean does the links gave significant boost ?
if by "significant boost" you mean ranking boost I obviously don't know and can't guarantee anything. Google reserve the right to do whatever they want with their rankings :)

But for me they worked

You either need to find a commonality of sorts to bridge the gap to relevancy.

Basically, you need to make the relevancy exist.

I had a site in the crafts & hobbies niche and some of the best links for that site have come from a museum site, and a wedding gifts one

Take this response for instance, OP. A wedding gift can be something from a hobby shop or a new crafting kit of sorts. Boom, small relevancy.

A poor example I used, but you understand the direction that I was taking.
