Yeah... if I'm understanding what the OP is asking, he wants to eliminate the vocal track from a music recording but preserve the music itself. Hence, my reference to the G search for such software. Camtasia or Audacity would allow complete removal of the audio but I don't believe that's what he wants.
Essentially, it's kinda like karaoke... just the music and you supply the vocals. There are services where you can buy singles of popular music with the vocals already removed.
