Alright guys, just want to know if anyone is experiencing a similar problem to what I'm having.

I've got a site that I started in late-September/early-October. I threw up a few unique articles and periodically added comments via Caffeinated Content. I pinged it from time to time. On Nov. 22nd, it got 1 hit but on the 23rd, it had 40 and the #'s just kept growing. It finally started averaging about 120 hits / day and I was making $4-5 / day in Adsense (which was cool).

On Dec. 14th (three weeks later), the site totally fell off the face of Google's earth. There was no steady decline, there was no warning - just gone. It wasn't de-indexed as I could type in site:www.mysite.com and could see it but it wasn't ranking, Google bots stopped coming and my Adsense dollars for this blog have vanished. To date, the site has yet to recover and short of a few referrals from backlinks, it's getting me nowhere.

What's weird, is I can use
Code:
www.googlerankings.com
and use my API and it says that my site is on Page 8 but when I go to Page 8 or any page around that, my site still isn't showing up.

I'd been reading up and haven't found any conclusive evidence (is there such a thing as conclusive when you're talking about Google) as to why this has happened.

I've searched my Webmaster Tools account and haven't received any notifications from Google, my site is verified and all looks clean on that front. I then added some Webmaster Tools widgets on my iGoogle dashboard and for this specific site, I receive the following error:

Code:
Our system is currently busy. Please try again in a few minutes.

So based on my research I'm guessing it's one of a few things.

1) I Googled the above mentioned error message and read where Google screwed up their algo in October and people were experiencing the same thing. I'm thinking maybe I'm a victim now but that wouldn't make sense since they were supposed to have that issue resolved by now.

2) My site is about designer apparel and accessories and I've read that Big G slams sites like this closer to the holidays so I'm thinking it could be this reason.

3) I've heard that some times sites can disappear and then reappear a few days / weeks later. How long should one really wait and should I contact Google?

So, I have three questions:

1) Who, if any of you have experienced a similar situation and what your thoughts are as to my suggestions or ANY other possibilities.

2) Is anyone else experiencing the same thing right now with any of their sites?

3) Why is
Code:
googlerankings.com
reading out that the site is on Page 8 but when I physically look, the site is nowhere to be seen?

Don't get me wrong and such, but this looks extremely close to an advertisement post.
At least thats what my smile sense tells me.
If i'm wrong, sorry for the huge accusation. :)

Could you do me a favor and explain what I'm promoting.

It's a legit question and I don't appreciate you hijacking the thread with some asinine accusation.

Geesh, you have decent writing skills and do some homework and suddenly you're creating a sales page on a SEO forum.

I've had completely legit white hat, all hand written unique content sites just kicked to the kerb like this from time to time.

Forget about it, you were only getting 120 hits a day which is nothing. Keep throwing stuff at the wall until it sticks, the effort spent worrying about why a auto generated site doesn't rank could of been spent making 20 more.

You can request reconsideration on google webmaster tools, but be sure that your site is good, it will be reviewed from a Google worker.

My sites often were gone, sometimes just for 2-3 days, came back then normally. Sometimes it took a week, and they came back much better.

The last one was a Blog on Blogger, who disappeared for a month and came then more or less the same like before back..I think this was, because I SocialBookmarked my site to much on on day.

I just add some more natural Backlinks on the last few days, before it was back again.

One of my friends had the same thing happen, but it was porn sites he isn't sure what happened either. Google isn't saying a word. I would try some basic seo(sorry if your already doing this) social bookmark it, submit some articles to article directories, put link on some forums, comment and add link on some do-follow sites, link directories, etc. I know this has to suck at Christmas.

Yeah, I guess this was my first stint at successful SEO as it was on Page 1 and the hit count was increasing. Maybe I'm too attached to this guy.

I was really just asking because 1) I wanted to see if it was another massive Google error but it doesn't sound like anyone else is experiencing this and 2) I just wanted to make sure I don't make the same mistakes (if I made any).

Thanks given to all who provided sound feedback.

I used to have a devil of a time getting google to recognize my sites. Never could get ranked. Tried all the SEO tricks and nothing worked. Then I decided that I didn't care about Google anymore and simply wasn't going to waste my time. About a month later all of the sudden I'm getting traffic to my site.

I look on Google and my websites all of the sudden are on page one and in either the number one position or in the top three for my keywords. Amazing.. all I had to do was tell Google to take a flying leap and suddenly they start indexing my websites...

Over the months I've had the websites simply disappear for a few days and then suddenly appear back in the number one position. I didn't do anything because I no longer rely upon Google for anything.

The other day, I was creating a video showing clients websites I've created which are on Googles #1 position and one of the sites had never been indexed. I was going to use it as an example that no one can ever guarantee to have the "secret" to Google rankings. Even with all my successful sites there was still one that wouldn't rank. And darn if the damn site didn't show up in the number one position!

My conclusion is that Google simply likes to play head games with all of us. I don't worry about it anymore or waste one second with Google except to show my clients there are other and better ways to promote their websites than Google.

I long ago gave up on Adsense and the rest of Google nonsense. Got tired of worrying about if Google was on the rag this week or not. I rather spend my time making money than worrying about Google.

That's understandable, but time is money. You paid $8 for the domain, plus the time spent setting it up and promotion and it was making $4 a day so you probably flipped a small profit on it.

For every hour/day you spend analyzing what happened, setting up webmaster tools, posting about it etc it will start becoming a loss. It's all a numbers game when running autogen sites.

If Google delivers a blow, don't buckle at the knees and try to please him punch back with another 10-20 sites and say take that asshole! ;)

Be patient everything will be alright soon
You see Google keeps doing this and that and thats when we Panic
give Google a few more days hopefully everything will be alright.

and yes use webmaster tools and get things in your hands.

For the last month or two i setup few blogs around 10, some health related and other about laptop reviews. I did some bookmarking and other social networking stuff, used PR Storm on few, pinged them daily, submited to few dirs, and all content is unique.
And guess how much visitors em i getting from G ? just guess ? :/

Ummmmmmm..... Zero?

Have you tried setting up a Webmaster Tools account and submitting your sitemap?

Well it is not zero, around 1 visitor a day from Google for 1 blog.
Yes i did, few have sitemaps.

Guys seriously i believe there's something in between ping and search engines

i used pingler*com a few days ago to ping my blog and "Bam" i lost the backlinks.
well the PR is still there....

could it be pingler has been flagged??????

Lost backlinks ? PR is still there coz it takes time to update it.
You never used pingler before ? And what kind of backlinks did you have in G ?

Ok,

So I'll post this as a solution cause I've read this a million times but never really given much attention to it (probably a mistake on my part).

My site is back at page 1. What I did was wrote a keyword-rich, unique article (took me about 30 minutes) and submitted it to Digg. Within 30 minutes, the site jumped right back to page 1.

To anyone whose sites have fallen off of a search engine, maybe this will work for you too?

Hi Isritter,
I don't want to sound like echoing everything that have been said here but I do agree with almost all of them. Grafxextreme is rite when he said that no one could actually guarantee to have the 'secret' of big G.

Is it website age? Is it your unique contents? Or is it your backlinks?

Yes and no.

Yes because it's always best to combine all the techniques; optimize your internal and external backlinks and produce "relevant content". When I say relevant, it does not necessarily mean "unique". G's weakest link is dupe, so it won't hurt you when you submit the same content to different places, as long as the one at your site is produced earlier than the others.

No is the answer when it comes to decision made by G's algorithm. Thousands if not millions of webpages being produced everyday; can you imagine now what criteria is taken into account by G to decide on where to rank your page? Many of them. In short, if you apply everything, the possibility of your page to be ranked on top is higher than the rest.

The best way to understand (at least a small fraction!) how G works is to think of yourself as G. You saw two sites; oldsitedotcom is 2 years old and newsitedotcom is 3 months old. Oldsitecom received consistent backlinks everymonth from the day it was created but only about 30 to 50 backlinks a month. While the newsitedotcom received 1000 backlinks in the first month, 2000 in the 2nd month, and only 5 in the 3rd month.

So pls tell me G, which site would appear as at least far more legit to you?
