back links and blogs info needed

im curious first off how back links work and what they are i hear they can nock a site from say 13 users all the way up to 800 users in 1 week. Is it true ?

and second off say like i make blogs online how does it help my landing page or site i mean im guessing hardly anyone reads a blog on where to find tutorials or media do they ?

Check out the "Members Download" section and search for backlinks, you are sure to find a guide or two explaining the basics.

Once you have the basics down, read through the "Blogging" or "SEO" forums here for more information.
