Is it okay to back link with just the http:// prefix and not the www., e.g:

    http://mysite.com rather than http://www.mysite.com?

Whenever I search for my site it displays the home page without the (www) perhaps because it is on wordpress..

If your site is not using www, then your backlinks also should not contain www! www and no www are not counted as 1 entity!

Gangsta, if you go to your wordpress general options, you can change your address to show www*mysite*com.

I don't know why, but not having www in front of my domains pisses me off.

Either is fine, I do both. As long as you have a 301 in place it's all good.

Yeah, you manually have to go back and add www. after http:// in wordpress options. I personally always prefer having www.

you can go to your htaccess file... and add some code to it..
so that mydomain dot com redirects to www.mydomain
that way.. your site is indexed as one..

because www.mysite dot com is technically not the same as mysite dot com
