I've build several sites and have done link building in a way that is not recommended (lots of bl's in a very short time) and most of my sites has been G sandboxed BUT, they always get back from there in a couple of days and everything continues normally. So I was just wondering if a site has been sandboxed and get's back there and I also get back my rankings, what's the actual harm to my site? does google somehow "mark" these kind of sites and somehow devaluate it? maybe make it a bit more harder to get them rank higher in serp?

Its just Google slapping you on the wrist and telling you to slow down.

Its not really SB its just a temp devalue. You also get this effect if you use the same anchor text too often, as well as the same site for multiple links.

Slow down your link building, vary the anchor text to include some very general terms now and then, and make sure the links are coming from many different sources (preferably with decent PR).

    Hope this helps.

Yeah i agree with redfax, varying the anchor text is so important. I actually learnt my lesson the hard way... The paradox with google is you have to try not to look like you are optimizing your site. Being natural is the key. I'd say no more than 10 links per day if that.

If i want to dominate a keyphrase then mix that keyphrase up with similar keywords in my anchor text. Dilute your keyphrase. This way you will find in the long term you will gain more traffic also as you will be ranking for more than one keyword and this is what google wants.

If you wanna avoid sandbox you should reach some juicy bl's, from dmoz directory for example ;)
